OC help

Hi all i have a 2500k cpu and asus p67 pro mobo, its running at stock and as you are all aware its built to OC , i have no idea how to tho, so if anyone had a good step by step link somewhere with the same setup as me i would appreciate it.
as you can tell i havnt overclocked before and i have the Efi bios. thanks

For some reason in cpu-z my core speed shows 1600mhz, i should be running at 3.3mhz stock correct ?

is there some kind of setting in my bios that makes it run at 1600 ??

sorry for the noob questions but im trying to learn this stuff.

Your cpu will slow down when the extra speed is not needed this means less heat and less power consumption.
There are some pretty good guides on this site http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17612922 That would be a good place to start

Perfectly normal to see 1600MHz at idle.

It's Intel SpeedStep which downclocks your processor when idle to save power.

Run Prime95 with CPU-Z open and the processor should clock up.

thanks for the info so far guys

ok i changed all cores to 42 which i believe should be 4.2 , but i keep changing the BLCK tab to 100 and saving, but it keeps reverting to 103

so 42x103 = 4.326 is this safe or have i done something wrong.

have run Intel burn test and Prime 95, all good under load, with temps upto 75c

if any more info req, plz post.
