Hey, i was just wondering what you lot reckon i could push the voltage on my e6300, here is what i have:

e6300 @ 2.8Ghz stable 400x7 (tested with Orthos for 13Hrs i closed it)
Asus P5W DH
2Gb Ocz platinum Rev. 2
water cooling with 3x 120mm fans

At the moment im running at 1.475 V to get it stable, but i have encountered some problems on cold boots what do you think i can do to stop this?

just on the note of the voltages my temps are ok, but i fear that im gonna have to increase the volts by quite allot beacuse my e6300 is a 28A batch so yeah.. old chip ftl :(

Sorry if any of this has been coverd before and thanks for any help

I wouldn't worry about the volts, at least until there's conclusive evidence of volts hurting chips.
Volt = Higher Temps!, even worse if he's on stock cooling.

and FYI my Conroe @ 3.3 Ghz is a 28A ;)

urm about 30 idle and 40 load ambiant (if that means like running css ~50% usage) about 35-37. guess i shuda mentioned that before

ambient is the room temperature :)
those temps seem okay, so may be able to rule out cooling. you might just have a bad chip. :(
mines being delivered today so hope i dont get the same

haha ^^ amb is 22 then. yea thats what i ws thinking too :( :( but yeah i might be getting a new one soon so yeah (from the shop where i work) so i hope i wont have this stiuation again =)

thanks

aye, mine should be hear in an hour, but im already plannign on sellign it to get a higher multi model. 3.5 just wont cut it :) waste of watercoolign lol

yeah, i bought the e63 cuz i wanted to do some serious oc ing but as it turns out i may as well have gone for the e66 tbh... kinda ****** about that -.- just a wheeeee bit

I think there is something very, very wrong with your settings somewhere if you need 1.45V+ to be stable at 400FSB.

Have you definitely turned off C1E, speedstep and the other power saving features? If you don't then when the chip goes idle it drops the voltage and the overclocked chip hasn't got enough to keep it running so it falls over.

I'd love to know what your BIOS settings are?

speedstep and all that stuff are definitely off... i have another problem now that's really *anoying* me ... my pc wont post. i have reset the CMOS jumper a good number of times to try and get something to happen... but nothing. I left the pc running (without a boot) for a while to see if the nb was getting hotter (i don't know if that's an ok indication but i thought it would have some heat change i it was running) but even after 30 mins... there was no temp increase on the mb. I dont know but i think that there might be something seriously wrong with the motherboard and thats what could be causing my problems... anyhow im taking the Mb back tomorrow to the shop where i work to slap it in the test rig to see what happens... but at the moment i my rather frustrated with the pc and at the fact that i havent had much experience with the P5W DH (well enough to tell me wtf is worng with it... :@)... yea....

thx for listening to my rant... any help much MUCH appreciated
