I'm having strange problems overclocking my E6550. Up until Vista SP1 it was overclocked at 475 x 7 (3.3Ghz) and Orthos and OCCT stable.
Since then it is OCCT stable but crashes Orthos on a blend test after 60 secs. If, however, I run CPU and RAM test separately with Orthos the PC is stable.
Specs are in sig. Temps are 42 under load measured by CoreTemp.
Thanks for any help

SP1 has had many bad reports so far with software tools including Orthos.

However, it may just be a voltage issue. Take the cpu up a few volts and test again.

Another way would be to uninstall SP1 if you can, test again and if it does crash after 60 secs then you will deffo know if its hardware related.

You can have a stable overclock for many months but as the motherboard gets older, there are issues with voltage regulation etc.....

Mobo was bought in Sept. Tried upping the Vcore and it did not appear to make any difference. There is no way that I am uninstalling SP1 I had to do a clean install to get it to work:D I'll just keep working away. The PC does not crash or do anything silly so I may just leave it as it is.
