Ok,i dont mean to be pushy or nout but i havent got the time to run prime to stress test and stuff like that.

Was wondering if anyone could just write a few settings and maybe a step by step quide to overclock slightly, that way il pick it up as i go along.

thanks In advance

I would imagine it will do 3.0Ghz on stock volts.

Make sure your ram has the right volts and turn the fsb up to 333 with a 9 x multi should give you 3Ghz, how reliable it will be is difficult to say, if you can give it 10 mins of prime for a very rough idea.

What cooling do u have on the Q6600?

currently got a AC freezer 7 Pro,also i got 11fans in my case, plus a huge 3ft fan blowing straight into my pc

also check how to reset the bios first, this is usually moving a jumper or removing the battery on the MB for a period of time. useful to know in case something goes wrong

Went into bios,FSB was already @ 333 and multiplyer was already @ x9,but cpu-z and computer still showing 2.4

cant you run your stability tests overnight, also running prime for 15-20mins, is all you need to to start with, its when you achieve your desired OC that you need to do the 8hr+ tests

My pc is way to loud, its impossible to sleep through it at night

i take it you cant put it in another room, then just do it during the day, when your not there, your CPU will throttle and shutdown before you damage it, as said sort runs to get to your target OC.

it took me about an hr to get to my target OC but then three nights to get it nailed.

ok,but have you got any idea why its not changing at all?ive followed guide how to oc it,but still no change, could there be a few more settings i need 2 enable/disable in bios?

Please show me pic, I gotta see this :D

Ahh my Gigabyte P35-DQ6 BIOS setting are in the link below which will be similar.
I've tested the DQ6 + DS3R & both can do 485 FSB.
I'd run the RAM at + 0.2 to +0.4 though if its >800.
Carefull with PCI-E voltage/freq as those setting actually set on fire my old 8800gtx clocked at 648/2020.
The settings are a year old now but should be a good guide.

Its true a higher FSB also increses CPU temp.
I just build a quad G0 rig for my bro with a P35-DS3R & hit 3.7 easy on air.
Using Antec gaming 900 case, tunique tower, 8x463 FSB / 1.525v.
Id find the max clock of the CPU with at 9x then try 8x with a higher FSB, just keep experimenting.
