Okay, so I just upgraded today. Been up most of the night tweaking the stuff :) But I thought people may be interested in some of the stuff in the post, and also I wouldn't mind a few tips on how to OC/Upgrade next, this is basically my first time doing it.

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3R
  • CPU: Corsair 520w
  • Cooling: Arctic Cooler Pro 7
  • GFX Card: 8800 GTS 320mb
  • HDD: Seagate Barracuda 320gb

Setup 1 Previous Setup: E6600 / 3GB Crucial Ballistix PC5300 (Stock settings)
Setup 2 The setup now: E8600 @ 10x333=3.3ghz / 4GB Geil PC8500 @ 1066mhz. (Stock settings)

I decided to do some tests on my old setup before I upgraded to see how big the difference would be.

CS:S Video Stress Test

Setup 1: 372fps Average
Setup 2: 769fps Average

Not sure this was a great way to test, but still glad to see it's practically doubled in FPS.

3DMark06:

Setup 1: 6761
Setup 2: 9933

I am running Orthos overnight for 8-10 hours to make sure the RAM/CPU work ok at the stock settings since I changed the ram from 800->1066, then there's some tweaks to come in the morning!

So up next would be to raise the FSB 3-4 at a time until I start getting errors on Orthos and is the graphics card now holding me back?

Cheers.
