Hi.
I bought an OC "Titan" machine (I think that's what the model was called at the time) 17months ago, but recently I cannot get it to boot.
This started happening every now and again 3-4 months ago whereby I would press the power button, the fans, power LED come on and hard drive would start spinning, but nothing is displayed on screen.
Normally then if I turned it off, left for a while and tried again it would boot up.
I can tell when it wasn't/isn't going to boot as when I press the power button the DVD LED's will not flash up.
When running everything seems fine.. although MB temps could be better 20-25 idle I think..
When it started happening more often I took it to work's IT dept.
They took a look but told me everything seemed fine. They checked the event logs and re-seated all the hardware. I took it home and have not had any issue so assumed there must have been a loose connection.
Last night I was on the machine not doing anything that would stress anything (no games or anything) and a quiet "pling" noise happened. The machine immediatly tried to reboot, but the above scenario happens.
The core hardware from memory I have is:
Core 2 Duo 1.8
ASUS P5B Deluxe
7950GT 256MB
2GB Corsair
XP SP2
As the machine runs fine when on it which leads me to think that the CPU or powerpack may be the culprit here.
I have had a quick Google but not found anything.
If anyone has had this scenario happen before and or could suggest a fix it would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Nate.
