Would my machine and me notice a difference from this taking mine out and using this special offer?

well you're using ddr2 and that offer is for ddr3, so your motherboard would not be compatible. :/

If it makes you feel any better, those ddr3 sticks had a bad reputation for not working a while back

Interesting though. For me anyway as my P35C-DS3R board is DDR2/3 compatible. Currently filled with 4x1GB DDR2, would if be worth it for me? I've got a Q6600 in there at the moment.
