OC(UK) Host Review :-)

Any suggestions for Domain registration? All mine are with Stablepoint at the moment and to renew one of my domains for 1 year they want to charge me £18.99. A huge increase from £11.99

Depending on TLD, look at Cloudflare; you'll need to use them for DNS but they are usually one of the cheapest registrars around.
Otherwise, Porkbun can be pretty decent for prices.

I've been using Porkbun since 2022 or so and they have been very good. I think Cloudflare can be a bit cheaper but I'm happy enough on Porkbun.

Thanks; I will check them out. I'm really disappointed with Stablepoints' new pricing. I hope they are not going the same way TSO went.

If you want to get a bit more technical then Linode is a great option but you'll need to know Linux or at least be able to follow tutorials.
 
most of my domains are over at porkbun, as for web hosting, been everywhere, manage my own via vps now on hetzner, and have some other vps's with ionos, saving a ton of money. Orcale do a free tier which a few people use it.
 
Looks like the reseller packages at stablepoint have changed.

Not sure when that happened?

Assuming customers on legacy plans haven't had anything changed in terms of what they get?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable and affordable UK-based hosting provider.

I've been with my current provider for four years on a legacy custom plan, but following a change in ownership I'm now looking for a stable long-term home for my websites.

I'm looking for a modern shared hosting plan suitable for a few low-traffic WordPress sites, with reasonable resource limits, stability, and support when needed.

UK-based servers preferred.

If anyone has recommendations for smaller UK providers they'd suggest (or avoid), I'd really appreciate your suggestions

Also, what key questions should I be asking when comparing hosts? The specs and terminology vary a lot between providers.
