Ok so Ive been given a £50 voucher off an £80 spend at ocado Ive never shopped there before. I know its classed as posh so what is really good unusual things to look out for to add to my cooking store cupboards? :D

It's not really posh.
In fact they price match tesco

The morecombe bay potted shrimp.
Buffalo jerky
The potted fish company crab
Seafood & eat it brown crab

Hmm bit of a seafood theme,

They also do unpasturised cheddar & mozzarella

It's also by far the nicest online shopping experience (I've tried) and really cheap delivery if you are in durying the day. Actually decently bagged and the recipe comes with all the use by dates etc.

Does anyone else dislike the way they pack uncooked meats in carrier bags with cooked meat and other fridge products? When I bag my own items at the supermarket I always separate them to avoid cross-contamination(after all; you're told to keep them on separate shelves in the fridge). Tesco seem to bag them separately when you order online too.

[I also keep them separated in my trolley as I shop, maybe I need to get over it :)]

Thats really odd that they do that Pete. When I worked in a supermarket (be that the best part of 13 years ago) I was told to _NEVER_ pack cooked and uncooked meats together. I'm sure its probably 'ok' to do, but it does seem to be poor form from Ocado.

Bit of both, get over it, they're in sealed containers, but I've never had that. In fact as I siad. They have the best packing system I've had from online retailers.

They may be in sealed containers, but often when you pick meat off a supermarket shelf (in a "sealed" container) you'll see it's all sticky where one or more have leaked - I'd rather not have that on my cooked ham!

The last order I had (last weekend in fact, they lured me back after not using them for some time and I had just returned from 3 weeks away so decided to use them rather than go out shopping)) I had 2 out of 12 eggs smashed (which obviously happened a long time prior to delivery as the egg carton was so soggy it about fell to bits when i picked it up) and a pack of 6 bread rolls in the same carrier bag as a 6x330ml pack of cans.

I've never found them any better than ordering my food from elsewhere.

Never had any of that problems. The bags are even coloured, so you know what's in what. Your place can't even be putting it in the right coloured bags.

And rats could pee over anything, but I bet you drink straight from a can without washing it.

Like a lot of these things probably depends on the staff at your local place.
But they will all have the date enabled recipe, coloured bags etc.

6-packs of cans are sealed and I always wash my hands when I get back from the supermarket... but I get your point!

I actually asked on the phone about the packing of meat (as I had to sort a refund for the eggs) and they said they don't have a policy of separating them. Tesco on the other hand clearly make a point of separating them:

I think you've got a bit of OCD if you wash your hands after gong to a supermarket :p. What do you think's going to happen if you don't?

OT, I use Ocado weekly and they're excellent.

I think ocado have a really good international food section too, worth picking up some of those favourite sweets from abroad and stuff like that.
