Occasional cold boot

Hi all,

This is following on from my thread a while ago, here

Like I said in that thread the PC used to occasionally cold boot and I forgot about it as it didn't happen very often.

Then recently, without me changing anything other than the GFX card cooler maybe one month ago (totally irrelevant I know), the cold boot issue was happening a bit more often. Not every single time I booted, but more often than before and it was enough for me to notice it that it is happening more often

I wanted to try and sort the issue as my computer is nearly 1 year old so if any parts had a one year warranty then this would be coming to an end.

So today updated my BIOS as I hadn't done it for a while, the most recent BIOS revision I had was from October 2011. I have now updated to the latest version.

I was just wondering what to do next. I have my PC overclocked to 4GHz but when I first started that other thread last year it was NOT overclocked and the issue was still there, and someone mentioned about AI Suite causing dual boot cycling. Last year updated the firmware on my SSD, reinstalled Windows (so no AI Suite) and still had the issue.

So can I put my overclock back on or is it best to leave it off? Guessing I can put it back on as I was having the issue even before it was overclocked and it was overclocked way before it started becoming more often.

Should I be worried about this? Does everyone have these issues? Is it just an ASUS thing? (Think I've read that somewhere)

Thanks, :)

EDIT: Just restarted PC to sort out some of the BIOS settings after updated, no overclock, saved changes, exited setup and it cold booted. Tapped power button, it went off instantly. Turned it back on and powered up first time. So BIOS updated hasn't solved it unfortunately. AI Suite is still installed, but like I said earlier last year it wasn't installed and I still had the issue. Will uninstall it now anyway.

I think it is the same as last year, I do see the splashscreen, it does POST then it gets stuck
