Hi guys,
I've got a server upstairs connected through a Gigiabit router and Cat 6 cable down to my HTPC downstairs. I'm experiencing a lot of buffering while watching full quality no compression Bluray MKV files. I assumed it was down to the CPU with files that are of a very high bitrate, but it should be able to play these with no problem (AMD 4450). To test it I copied an entire film that was buffering constantly across the network and for most of the time it transferred the file at 70+MB/s. However, while watching it for 5 minutes I noticed it occasionally dropping to well below 1 MB/s therefore nowhere near enough for fluid Bluray playback. How do I test the system to see why it's failing during these instances and how can I ensure that I get a consistantly high enough transfer rate for Bluray playback (I believe this should be greater than 20MB/s?)
Cheers,
Jed.
