occt vs prime95

i found that OCCT and intelburn passed but prime95 failed on my 4GHz oc, to be sure i would want all 3 to pass, but if you are happy to ignore OCCT then thats your choice.
i found best was to stop OCCT failing is to up the vcore.
also, which prime test did you run? best to run all 3 types, and maybe blend for more like 12-24hours instead of 8.

Blend will do both small and large FFTs, but you do need to leave it for more than 8hours to do a comprehensive test, I would recommend 24hours for a full stability test.

Each stress test tests the CPU in a different way so it's worth using a suite if you're looking for total stability. If it passes any one over an extended period but fails on another though, in all likelyhood you won't have any problems in real world use unless you're doing something computationally intensive.

well ye i wouldnt mind...

my point is that P95 is generally revered as the stress test to use and it picks up no faults at all whereas occt does.

That's because most people experience the opposite.

Endless passes with OCCT, then they try p95, and it finds faults. Different tests stress different parts of the system a different amount. One might push the CPU really hard, another will work the memory controller hard, another will push your ram to it's limits, another is hard on the chipset...... etc etc

Only way to be sure of stability is run lots of different stress tests, because none of them are infallible.

Personally I use : occt, linpack, prime95, and superPi.
