Occulus arrived - but software will not install

Only got as far as downloading the occulus set-up
When I run it , it tell me I need windows 7 64bit ..... which is what I am running (all windows updates are up to date)

Anyone else have issues with this ?

Works on my FX8350 running Win7 SP1 64bit.

Just pulled latest software from https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/setup/ and went through the install process.

Make sure you have .net framework 4.5 installed.

it also fails with a 'can't connect to servers' error if you have less than 5gb free on your C drive.

Got it sussed and the software is installing

It said I needed 2 updates
Windows6.1-KB2670838-x64
Windows6.1-KB3033929-x64

Which when I downloaded from MS and ran the installers which reported back ..... update already installed (for both)

Had to use the below documented method to force re-install these already installed updates ....

Just documenting this here incase some other poor bugger has the same issues
