OCD (CDO)

I cannot touch anything that other people touch (door handles, keyboards, mice, sink taps etc) without first having a bottle of Antibacterial Gel in my pocket or at my desk at work.

If I do not have such bottle I open doors with my sleeves and if no sleeves, the last 2 fingers of my hand as I know which part of my hand has touched the area. If I'm in a toilet I will pull off some loo roll to open the door and then throw it in the bin. I am at the first sink I can find to wash my hands and when home the sleeved item of clothing (if used) goes straight in the washing machine!

Handshakes.....OMG!!! I once told a client who was a Global VP for Sales he must excuse my not handshaking with him as he had a cold. Made him feel slightly uncomfortable to say the least but he understood and I still won the deal.

My work colleagues and MD find it amusing and do take the michael but in a very soft and humorous way.

I have my reasons regarding the above, however I will not be sharing that story!

My tv volume is on 17, eat me!

No I don't have OCD, I don't think it's cool to throw it around like "Oh lol my pens must be a certain way or I get edgy"

OCD is a serious condition.

I have Autism and OCD

It can take me an extra 10mins to leave the house because I have to keep checking that the plug is out and taps are off. I've even threaded taps before as I kept turning and turning because I didn't trust it was off. I can even get annoyed that I look again and again sometimes putting my hand under a tap that's off incase it really is on!

Or counting to 10 per tap ://// or touching unplugged plug sockets as I don't believe they are out lol

Oh and mine isn't a self diagnoses, diagnosed in 2002 by the nhs mental health :p

I have Aspergers and therefore am a bit of a neat freak, everything in my house is in order. All CD's, DVD's etc all in Alphabetic order... I don't drink from the same bottle or glass as someone, if someone asks for a sip of my drink I let them have a sip and then give it to them.

I think someone else used those rolleyes before, OMG THE BACTERIAS

I can't see how other people not wanting to touch your stuff, or share a public toilet with you, could possibly inconvenience you.

As a result, and due to your style of posting, I'm concluding that you are a probably a douche.

No point in even arguing about it.

I don't either but that's because some of the drink in their mouth goes back in the bottle/glass however if it was a life or death situation it wouldn't bother me.

From my own personal experience, as I do have OCD; generally it is a slight misnomer that OCD is ALL about checking, while part of this is true, it has a multitude of vices that grips the sufferer, your thought processes, rituals, checking, reassurance seeking etc, the processes of thoughts in OCD is incredibly upsetting and debilitating. From my work with therapists, it can take many years to manage OCD; the main thing is, as in my case, is the acceptance that you will have it for the rest of your life. It takes hard work and commitment to break the cycle and it is quite tiring; but worth it. I have just started to manage my own OCD within the past 2 1/2 years. My own personal trick is (this may sound funny) love it! It is part of you and just treat the thoughts as just thoughts. Unfortunately this is harder than you may think. The more you try and not think about something; the more it come into your mind. The key, not to try. As I say, I have learnt "My" way, as many other sufferers do it there own way.

There's a Blue Giraffe; now try your hardest NOT to think about the Blue Giraffe.

Jeez, my first post and it's about this. Oh well. lol

PS I hate dust on electrical equipment. lol

Exactly. Sorry, I should have stated, I know that's not OCD that's just the closest I've got xD If it was a life and death situation I'd probably clean the bottle top with my hand and then take a swig :L
