Hi all, i am looking to get either a 7600gt or 7900gt soon (depends on funds!) and was wondering is it worth paying more for cards that have already been overclocked in the box ready? As in the XFX XXX editions etc. Or would it be worthwhile buying the cheaper ones and overclocking it myself?

cheers

BFG are a good brand, they come overclocked as standard and offer a lifetime warranty, but just hope you never need to use it

XFX XXX use differrent componets so they can overclock them more the value or standard edditions use cheaper bits and dont overclock to XXX edition speeds

The 7900s are supposed to be good overclockers out of the box. CustomPC mag said they found pre overclocked cards tend to be picked for speeds that match the promised O/C and often won't clock much higher as opposed to pot luck on a referance speed core that might or might not O/C well. It depends if you want a guaranteed O/C with warranty cover or save a few quid and take a chance at getting lucky with a stock card.
