OCD, what's yours?

I used to have a couple such as if I touched something with one arm / leg etc by mistake I would have to do it with the opposite one.. I was going to say I can't really think of anything now but then I read this:

I also must highlight text when I'm reading it off a computer screen

and realised I had the very text I was reading highlighted, but that's not really a compulsion, just a habit :P. It does annoy me when a web page doesn't let you highlight the text though.
I also check my alarm clock is set a couple times before and after switching off the light and occasionally go back to check the car locked, but they're nothing really.

I used to know someone who had to touch every light switch he saw

Drinking, i always have to be drinking something, be it water/juice/fizzy pop. I cant seem to go an 30 mins without having a sip of something.

Dont drink much alcohol, and dont really eat that much either.

Oh and the number thing, bugs me when they not multibles of 5 or 10, or even numbers lol.

I don't think i could buy a tv without number display on the volume. If it didn't have it I have to count the number of times I hit the button with my thumb.

Everything must be parallel, and if possible, symmetrical. My monitor must be in the middle of the desk, my desktop at the side must be parallel with the edge of the desk. The front of the keyboard must line up with the front of the desk.

All numbers must also be equal or in intervals of 5, although if it's between 60 and 70 it has to be 64.

I feel the need to dismantle and fix anything, even if it's just a pen. If I don't have something to dismantle with me, I have to break something.

If I'm on a computer, my mouse MUST NOT be making anything pop up. For example, when you make a post, and you scroll down to read the rest, hover your mouse over a post and it says "Post XXXXXX". I HAVE to move the mouse away from it to stop it doing that. Same with images and stuff.

Also, I hate walking behind someone if I'm alone, I either have to catch them up and talk to them, whether I know them or not, or walk really slowly so that they're far away.

Everything has to be stacked correctly. You can't have a large object on top of a small object, it has to make a pyramid, and if they don't line up, I have to turn them so they align.

My most annoying -

Sometimes, if i turn to look at something i then have to turn back the opposite way because i feel like i am being tied up (as if a rope was around my feet)...hard to explain - not always though, usually when shopping i get this!

I also hate it when shoes are just thrown down, I have to stand them up and line them up...

it's a symetrical thing I guess

Just remembered one. Everything electrical has to be turned off in my room before sleeping. Two years ago I worked 12 hours straight came home ate some food went to bed. Tried sleeping for around an hour or two and just coulddn't nod off at all. I then relalised my digital radio on the other side of the room 8 foot away was turned off, however still giving the smallest of buzzes *you could only hear it properly when 10 c
m away. Unplugged it and fell straight asleep.
I had a sense that something wasn't right and until I retified it i couldn't rest.

I suppose if i had real OCD I would have checked it was switched off about 7 times before getting into bed in the first place!!!

I thought of a couple more:

I'm a handwasher. First thing I do when I get home is wash my hands. I have a 'thing' about dirty hands. I have to block out thoughts of "I bet he's touched all sorts today and is now giving me his bacteria" or "I sincerely hope they've washed their hands" because I can't stand dirty hands.
I never hold the handrail on any staircase or escalator due to this. I avoid touching things like handrails in buses and tubes due to this. I do grab on in the bus and tube sometimes but am always sure to not use that hand until washed if I can help it.

I look in the fridge when I'm hungry, even though I know there's nothing to eat in there :(

The dirty thing is odd though: I don't like the feeling of sand due to this, nor do I like painting or getting my hands rough/dirty. Oddly, I would never, ever touch a hobo under any circumstance. Some are really really rude (they deserve a right hook) sometimes when you don't stop for them and listen to their BS. I wouldn't dream of getting into a fight with one due to their dirt. Moreover, the thought of one of them touching me makes my skin crawl somewhat.

I'm really strange lol...

I just thought of another one.

Every night I put my breakfast bowl, spoon, porridge and jug for milk (for porridge) on the side in the kitchen ready for the morning.

I'm a freak! :(

when in my car the stereo has to be an even number on the volume, if someone chages it and i see it odd i move it up or down 1.

every night i have to brush the bed with my hand to get rid of crumbs.

i also have to wash my hands every hour or 2.

the thing that annoys me most when people open things and they have something to seal them like on the top of pringles or butter, if they leave it half on to close it when they put the lid back on, i have to remove it fully.

Everything in my room must be shut when I go to sleep or....

They'll Get Me! :D

Not sure about worry about 'them' getting me - but I too have to close all the cupboard doors, make sure all the curtains are completely overlapping so that there won't be any chinks of light streaming in in the morning. It's a time-consuming process!

when getting toilet roll to blow my nose or whatever, it has to be a clean tear from the last perforated sheet. If it's ripped and there is still some of the last sheet left on the roll then I'll keep tearing until I get a clean rip.

When at work I have to take my break at a 15 min point (quarter past, half past, quarter to or on the hour). I couldn't go at 12:35pm.

When making sandwiches, only one slice of bread must be buttered.

Where I work I like the products to be neatly in place. If they are not then my mind isn't at its best. I can't work if things are even slightly untidy. I would say this is bordering on obsessive though its getting better. Getting older does have its merits.
