Hi

I Have a E5200 CPU which i manage to OC really well upto 3.8ghz , but ill be getting a HD 6850 soon and also fancy a CPU upgrade to squeeze a few more frames out of crysis

What quad core do you recommend ?

Thanks

I have a P5Q-EM Asus MATX , I have my eye on a Q6600 but dont know if its worth doing , I only managed to push my Board to 333 FSB and had to adust my multi to 11.5 and Vcore to 1.36 on my E5200 to get 3.8ghz But i think the multi is locked on the Q6600to 9 so that makes an OC of 3.0ghz on the Q6600 - Will i be running slower with that speed on a quad ?

Cheers

The E5200's become fsb limited quite low down the fsb range. You should not have the same problem with a Q6600 as long as your board has a decent range of clocking options. Being able to increse NB voltage would be a good start.

Oh nice so i should be able to get higher FSB

My board has loads of options (even though i dont understand most of them :P ) But yeah i can adjust the NB Voltage easily

Anymore tips ?

Ok so it could be a worth while investment then ?

If you want more fps from Crysis then it would make more sense to keep your processor and spend the money on a faster gpu.

A Q6600 would be a cheap upgrade though you would have to overclock it.

Unfortunatly im very limited on what GPU i can fit in my case as i have an Antec Fusion HTPC case so the biggest i can go atm is a HD6850 the 8.5" PCB should fit fine (even though i lose 2 SATA's)

Ideally id like to OC my Q6600 to about 3.6ghz if pos and OC my HD6850 to 940/1150 with voltage adjustment

I like pushing my system to the max really

Cheers

You are going to need a great cooler to get 3.6 ghz comfortably on a Q6600.
You'll have to research how much room you have to play with in your case for the cooler.

Corsair H50 is probably your best bet but that is £50 or this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-026-SY&tool=3 not sure if that scythe is capable of keeping a 3.6ghz Q6600 happy though so I'd check that out.
