Ok guys looking to get a bit extra from my GTX seeing as its old tech now and im not that fussed if it dies, which i no it wont really..

Anyway its currently at stock clocks 575mhz its a XFX whats a good figure to push it to on *** stock fan, i run the speed at 78% anymore and its like *** police chopper is overhead so i dont want to ramp it up anymore specially at night as its loud..

Also whats the best tool to OC it in riva tuner for some reason ive lost the bottom jump box were you OC etc says something about drivers:confused: do i need to change my drivers or update the tuner if so were do i do that ??

The EVGA precision tool is a doddle to use and will get your clocks up in seconds! Much easier to use than Rivatuner.

As for reccommended clocks,im in the same boat as you so hope that people post reasonable OC specs !

Ive saw the XFX oced edition running at 630MHz Core, 768MB 2000MHz on standard cooler so im guessing it safe to push to that going to try it tonight mate ill let you no if mines stable up to that..

Hopefully someone who as owned a stock 8800 pipes up thou prior save me testing.:)
 
Generally most stock 8800 gtx's will do 621/1900 with every now and again a good one will appear and do more.

The thing to remember with the core clock is it has stepped clocking in increments. So it doesn't matter if you set it to 621 or whatever it will still be only at 621mhz until you try for 648 Mhz I think is the next increment stepping.
 
I've got the BFG OC2 so it came with an overclock I think 621/1450/2000 for core/shaders/memory but fan looks same as stock GTX's

With 78% fan if you've decent case ventillation I'd have thought you should reach 621 core and 2000 memory and possibly 1600 shaders

I use Rivatuner to unlink the shaders from the core and got 647/1673/2080 but always run fan 100%

If running fan 78% keep an eye on temps

If you play shader intensive games like COD4 I'd be tempted to not push memory over 2000 and try shaders at least 1600-1625 makes a nice difference with core over 600 for fps figures

Thank you, thats the kinda info i was after, didnt haave chance to try this yet hopefully get a spare hour the weekend:)
