Thinking of buying a new system in a few months but for the time being would like to try and clock my CPU.

I have tried a couple of times before but each attempt ended with me having to hard reset the bios, which is a pain in the ****!

Please see my sig for details.... Any help greatly appreciated!

one prob i can see if your ram. pc2700 (166fsb)

your 2500 is 166fsb * 11 multi.

therefore if you wanna go over 166 fsb, better ram will help a lot

ive got my 2500 upto 235 using some pc3500 ram

If I remember correctly I tried to reduce the multi to 10x. this resulted in the system lockup and hard reset of the bios.

Your chip probably has a locked multiplier so won't run at anything other than 11x, you can try changing the FSB, increase it in small increments until you start to hit instability.

majority of the 2500+ cpus can hit xp3200 by simply changing the fsb to 200mhz from its original 166. an easy mod but it all depends on if your ram can handle the speed increase to 200mhz.
if not then you will need better ram. and running async is not a good idea on the XP platform since there will be a big hit in performance if a divider is used.
