ocing my E6400, safe? or wait?

Would overclocking my E6400 be a bit dodgy atm, due to have no decent cpu cooler (Stock) and a hiper 530w psu that is already under enough strain?

Like if i just wanted to get it to 2.3/4 ghz?

2.4ghz is doable on stock vcore so the stock cooler will be fine.

Download TAT and check temps.

Try to keep the cpu below 60c

2.4 should be done with ease i would imagine - my 6300 did 2.8 with stock cooling and loaded at around ~68

68 is to hot for 24/7 use

I agree but i dont leave my pc on 24/7 as i never feel its safe

Now i have a new cooler and it goes to around ~50 load.

My E6400 is good for a stable 3.2GHz on stock vcore.
Even with the stock cooler I would have thought 2.6GHz to 2.8GHz, would be easy.

what about the power supply though? As i know Hipers arnt the most reliable.

Mine is running @ 2400 Stock cooler, stock voltage, Idle 31-35 , load up to 49.
I do have an 80mm inlet fan directly over the cpu

Had absolutely no issues with my Hiper PSU.
Although, with your 8800GTS running, I guess a big overclock on the CPU might put some strain on a 530w PSU, I couldn't say for sure.
