OCíng my I7 4770k

The k2 is an excellent cooler. As long as your case can accomodate it and you have low profile ram it's among the best you can get.

Have you checked it will fit in your case, and clear your ram?

Twin tower coolers like this are infamous for causing problems with anything other than low profile ram sticks.

I have the Corsair Obsidian 750D case, fitment won't be an issue :)
I emailed OC and they said it could be awaiting stock, or could be due for removal from the website (yes, a clear response, how thoughtful)
So my other alternative I like the look of, and the reviews are good, is this:

Would that suffice for overclocking do you think?
Thank you.

Hey guys.
I'm looking for a good air cooler to OC my 4770k, preferably to a min of 4.5 GhZ.

I like the look and reviews of this one, is this a rated product?
Or anything that will perform the same or better, at a similar sort of price?
Thank you.
Edit - My motherboard is the Gigabyte Z87-HD3

Good luck hitting 4.5GHz on air! Mine needed 1.23V at 4.2GHz
Installed a nice shiny new H105 onto the CPU temps are now very good (idle 26oC, stress testing mid 60's, High stress AVX tests, etc mid 70's)
Enjoy your new toys!

Any recommendations on an item that will take it to my desired speed?
I'm assuming WC would be the only option?

You don't necessarily need WC to hit 4.5. All depends on your chip.
Guide max vcore for air cooling is ~1.25, but some chip/cooler combos will allow up to 1.3v. I've run 1.29v at 4.9 for a test-run and temps were still OK (hot weather so didn't leave it there!).

With room to spare.
Although I did get a pretty good chip, it would seem.
Only at 4.3 at the mo as I don't need the 4.7 day-to-day...

I don't want the faff of WC, and the all-in-one water coolers are not really much of a step up from a decent air cooler.

My 4770k is guff. Required 1.22 @ 4.3 and currently 1.31v @ 4.5ghz to stop it crashing in BF4. The CPU wasn't even hot when playing, was about 47'C.

I might just drop back to 4.3 as it made only minuscule difference when loading games.

A WC CPU kit would be lower than the top air coolers by a few degrees, but it still might not let get you to 4.5ghz, as that's all down to how good a cpu you get.

My 4770k does [email protected].
Temps will hit around 76-79c ( ambient temp is 24c ) with a Thermalright Silver Arrow running Prime95 Blend for 10mins, which is hot enough for me.
Case is a Corsair Carbide 300R with 2 intake + 1 exhaust @ roughly 1200rpm.

When gaming it'll be between 55-65c, depending on what I'm playing.

Watercooling doesn't make a big difference over air on haswell compared to ibe, sbe or standard sb chips. Due to the way they're, the heat transfer from the die is just very poor.

So, in your opinion, what do you recommend?
I keep hearing different ones, which to be honest, is confusing the crap out of me haha.
