OCR software recommendations

Many years ago, when I was at HPLabs, I was part of the team that developed the Tesseract OCR engine, which was pretty good bit of software.
Ray Smith, who was the lead on the project seems to be keeping it going over on google code and there are some more friendly windows wrappers available.
