Hey,

Ok im at my witsend with this one. Ive done everything in my power to cool this beastie and its still running hot.

I bought a pre-overclocked motherboard bundle (from overclockers, obvioulsy). Gigabyte X58 UD3R + i7 930 OC'd to 4ghz + 6gb RAM but get big heat under load (video encoding, 3d rendering which are 2 reasons i bought this for.)

Cooler is a Corsair H50 Watercooler (single fan as it came, ive not turned it round to blow the other way), but im begining to think this is the issue - I don't think its up to such a big overclock.

I built the rig into an Antec 300 orgininally but recently stripped the whole thing and built up from scratch again into a new Antec 903 v2 (200mm top fan, 120 mm rear fan (corsair radiator is on this mount) 2 x 120 mm front fans (not stock, i switched these for a pair of Vipers) cooling the hard drives (these are cool at an average of 28-30 degrees and stay there under load, while the rest of the rig gets toasty).
I have not mounted a fan on the side panel.

Recently added a GTX 480 GPU which has raised the heat a little, but not the cause as it was BSODing before.

If i go anywhere near Handbrake with OC enabled, i get a BSOD. Set everything back to stock (overclockers stored a bios profile so i can back and forth). I have not altered the bios in anyway except to set the sata ports to AHCI as they were on IDE when i got it.

So there you go, what more can do??

Any help you guys can suggest would be awesome. Thanks.

p.s I used arctic silver on the H50 and theres a BeQuiet 650w PSU in there.

Thanks for the reply.

No, thats my last ditch theory i think. My one last theory is its not sat on properly or the artic silvers not even spread although im usually pretty careful with that. I didnt disconect it when i relocated the motherboard into the new case, i just very carefully transfered it still hooked up to the mobo.

Any other suggestions? Is the H50 upto this? Should i be getting its bigger twin fanned thicker rad brother, (H80???) Are the mounts over the CPU the same or will i be trying to get that bugger off?

Thanks :)

I would try the ocuk tech support tomorrow.

Have you monitored the temps under load to see how high it gets? Might bit e just a temp issue I suppose.
