Ok so just got my first teaching job and will have some extra pennies to finally get a nicer car. looking around 9k max budget and quite like what i have seen so far about the octavia.

Does anyone own one or have opinions on them?

The engine is nothing short of superb, and the re-mapping and tuning abilty of them is sublime!

Haven't actually driven the octavia though.

haven't driven one, but my dad had one on loan for a weekend and it was quick, comfortable and generally a sweet car

it's all VAG running gear, chassis etc now so its well built, I'd say a good choice

Nice enough cars.

Test drive is the way.

I wasnt impressed at all when i drove one.

But as said, re-maps do well and could change that.

Yeah looking for one locally to arrange a test drive this week. Should be quite a change compared to my 1.6 sierra and a 106 diesel lol.

Search for post's I've made as I've only just bought one around two months ago, and modded in the last couple of weeks to 240bhp.

Any questions I'd be happy too answer.

Yes there is indeed, google Jabba or REVO. Both of which are just tinkering with the ECU. (Unless you go stage 2 or 3)

Furbs - catch me on msn. Best mate has one, driven it a fair bit too so can help you out :)

Rubbish - they're meant to be excellent. Were one of the best VAG drivers cars until the MK4 R32 Golf. IIRC it was in the top 7 of EVO's best sensible-money drivers cars.

Even the coppers use them...

Perhaps someone should make a poll:

-----------
'When will gaz1234 make a constructive or useful post:'
1) Never
2) Never
3) Never

I'd be very surprised if the fuzz use a standard car. They are usually upgraded.

I dont know about that because i once asked a copper about that and he saiys they dont do anything like chiping etc to police vehicle as it invalidate the warranty or something like that. He says it is all down to good maintainance and proper servicing. I find that hard to believe too.

"It's got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks, it was a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas," says Elwood Blues.
