October 2018 Update Pulled - Having issues?

maybe I misread it, but the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10_version_history
"Public versions of Windows 10 version 1803"
seems to show (69->83) so 15 kb patches april 30->oct 9 .. so about 3 a month ? or, are they consolidated ?

All I know is it is rare for me to load up one of my Windows 10 devices and not have updates pending :( even if it is just smaller ones. Which is multiplied in irritation when you have multiple Windows 10 devices (not through choice).

Eh? I don't follow your 69-83 thing.

The main cumulative update is on the 2nd Tuesday of the Month (aka Patch Tuesday). There's usually a Flash Player update as well. Anything after that is out of band.

Yeah, that's not a good resource. Try the official MS page : https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4099479 which will tell you what was in each update.

Short version of what usually happens is ... update comes out 2nd Tuesday of the month and goes out to the plebs running the home version and a handful of corporate guinea pig machines (if your IT dept doesn't suck). It invariably breaks applications, drivers and HP machines as it hasn't been properly tested by Microsoft and they've ignored the insider "feedback" at which point Microsoft scramble to unbreak things over the next couple of weeks. They then expire the original banjaxed patch Tuesday update and replace it.

This is why we've got a minimum two week delay of issuing the patches at work...

That is one of the reasons why we are entirely back on 7 and moved a lot of systems to Linux at work (not on my say I have no influence over that). IT doesn't seem to like Windows 10 any more than I do - probably because it makes more work for them :s

I see that Microsoft have pulled the recent update due to claims of deleting files. I installed it yesterday (Love the dark explorer UI!) and everything seems to be all good here. Anyone else having issues with it?

I'll hold off installing to our second machine that runs media server etc.
Both my dell xps 13 and my custom build desktop windows 10 machines keeps sayin that my system is up to dat with 1803?!?!?!?

Given my choice I'd have kept everything on 7, but management said otherwise back in late 2015.

I've since changed jobs to go do DevOps, so it's someone else's problem to feature update a couple thousand machines from 1511 to something current.

I just realised the NHS have also taken the kings shilling.
In an effort to further build cyber resilience across the NHS, the Department for Health and Social Care has announced an agreement with Microsoft that will see NHS devices upgraded to Windows 10, the technology firm’s latest operating system, which features significantly more robust security tools.
..
Digital Health News understands the deal with Microsoft is not included in the £150 million pledge from government.
they all succumb.

no update from them yet on re-release https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/author/john-cable/

can an individual see MS information on failure reports/counts from the field, or is it just 3rd party circumstantial information.
(although car manufactureres or tv manufactureres do not reveal it either , the number of customers and significance of 'OS' failure impacts prouductivity more )

edit: wrong - fix is being tested by insiders https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/9okjt9/is_it_safe_to_download_1809_redstone_5_oct_2018/
says it all
Microsoft needs to refocus on Windows 10 fundamentals, not just new features
