Looking to book something for October half-term. I have mainly done city tours but the kids are still young and a resort seems ideal to get away somewhere warm.

Anyone done Tunisia or Morocco? Or are they just places dolled up on the TUI website to make them better than they are?

Egypt, Turkey, Tenerife, Lanzarote all pop-up also as being warm enough in October. The kids probably could not tell the difference between the places as long as fed, sand and kids club.

Any recommendations on where you went October half-term?

Cheers.

Would probably look at the Canaries as they are a decent temperature all year round and probably be the most cost effective, Egypt and Tunisia aren't really nice family holidays in my experience as they're not the greatest areas for leaving your resort with young kids

My mate went there with his kids and they were very intimidated by the beggars and pushy traders. They ended up staying in their hotel and not venturing out.

Same mate, went into Sharm town and felt very uncomfortable, they had their hands all over the missus telling her they'd show her the best life etc. was getting so annoyed so high-tailed out back to the hotel and then never left the complex after, would never go back to Egypt again, can't imagine how much worse it would be if you had kids with you.

Morroco, Tunisia, Turkey.. All places I WOULD NOT even risk going to at the moment.
Yes, the holiday's available are substantially cheaper because of the inherent risk.
If there was NO risk, the prices would be 30-50% higher to go.

Yes, you can take the risk. However, what would you do if that risk ended up harming your family? Not worth the risk.

What if you're a disaster tourist.

The earthquake was a while ago and it wasn't the across the whole country. I asked if there are any current issues which would potentially impact a holiday.

Turkey was fantastic for us a couple of months ago. The earthquake was a billion miles from anywhere touristy, so didn't affect us at all. We've been twice in the last year- Lara Beach and then Side, both within an hour of Antalya airport. Absolutely amazing people.

Following on from this for any readers interested: Lara Barut Collection is amazing value for money. If you're comfortable booking Flights + Transfers by yourself then you can often get All Inclusive for 2 people for £400/7nights.

Cheaper than my standard rent/living costs.
