Hi everyone,

I reckon OcUK should have it's on youtube channel. It's not exactly an original idea but twice weekly releases on either reviews, builds and unboxing of products will generate more sales, allow us get to know the staff and whatever else. Been stuck at home with the epidemic that is the man flu and been bringing myself up to date with current tech watching youtube vids and reading hardware sites and am now in the mindset to buy a new mobo, cpu, mem and gpu but will wait and see how sandy bridge turns out first.

Been mostly watching ncix and linus vids and reading threads here and must say vids can be entertaining and wet the appetite. Mmmm I can smell the scent of fresh hardware through my eyes and ears...

40% of sales to me on anything featured on the vids if this follows through. Ta.

I really don’t see what extra value a few videos will make. Videos of builds and unboxing are quite frankly extremely boring. There are enough good reviews of new products already out there and they are in the form of articles. Again the hardware review videos that are out there aren’t exactly enthralling.

The written word and graphical representation does give everything you want to know about a pc product. A thousand words are better than a geeky person showing you a motherboard or a graphics card on video. I think the people buying kit are already quite knowledgeable and they just wouldn’t watch this kind of stuff.

I find unboxing videos useful.

I find that on OcUK you are not always told the exact contents of the box/package you'll be getting. How many SATA cables come with that mobo, for example. The more obscure the manufacturer/item, the harder it is to find this info, an unboxing video will show you exactly what you'll be getting in the box.

Of course, I'd rather have the entire box contents listed in the product description, but there you go.

I reckon it's a good idea too. Some of the really popular channels are tied to online shops and they must make a shed-load of cash from it all in. unbiased reviews get noticed.
