*** OcUk 2011 Distributed Computing Competition ***

1 SMP bigadv, 3 GPU clients lets go ;)

 hmmmm will give ya a head start am so close to 100% on bioshock 2 i can allmost smell it and it aint pretty :)

How the heck have you not passed me yet in folding:confused:

Anywho go at it i have no intention of putting up a fight I've got the smell of fresh brewed tea drifting up my nostrils in SETI :D:p;) oh and to rub it in 2.5K ish WU's on both rigs :p

It's official i now hate my life - may well have to rip this cushion apart with my bare teeth :mad:;):D:D

**** it, SMP and GPU on the go now, I don't appear to be getting my SMP bonus though, may have my passkey wrong as im using Fah GPU tracker since my GPU client wasn't starting on boot, turns out the registry folder for start up folder had been edited but oh well.

other than no SMP bonus at the moment everything is all good, temps are even acceptable at 4ghz

Yeee haw good to know your back :D...no wait... thats more competition noooooooo :D

Pah don't like this competition. I had been hoping that by restarting my meagre foldy output a couple of months ago, I might get a stay of execution from dropping too far down into them dungeon cells. I can almost still see daylight here if I stand on tip toes on top of the borged cruncher. But it seems like the world and his wife are upping their output and its only a matter of time before I feel the imprint of size 12's on my backside.

Pah! Shoulders back and a determined frown, you folders are made of stronger stuff than that sah!! Besides you don't have to fold a lot just a positive credit each day for 14 days and your in with a chance of winning some decent gear.

***OcUk*** Goodybag on the way courtesy of Mr 5ub's efforts....:D:D Cheers S!!

I've got three machines churning through Rosetta@home now. Unfortunately they're all a bit puny.

2x E3400's (2 cores each no Hyperthreading, celeron branded)

1x i5 M430 @80% (so my laptop doesn't melt)

Looking through the news for Rosetta it really looks like it's a worthy choice for crunching.

Puny or not they're helping the cause and thats all that matters :)

I'm crunching Einstein (with the odd pause for SIMAP) anyway so consider me 'In it too Win it'

Anyone having trouble getting jobs from SETI, you do know you can set up multiple projects on one BOINC client, don't you?:p

Anyway best of luck everyone.

Fingers crossed (again) looks like seti is spewing forth the wu's :D
Duly entered and the best of luck to you !!

A few OcUk goodies to be added to the prize list :)

Shogun 2 x 3
Stalker - Call of Pripyat x 3
Trackmania Canyon x 3
Gigabyte/Ocuk T-Shirt
2 x msi calendars
Icy box 3.5" Enclosure
Usb hub
Panda Global protection 2012
Preme Wireless Laser Presenter

Big thanks Mr 5UB Sah !!!

You have to be "in it to win it" "you snooze you lose" "no ticky no laundry" etc etc etc

In it to win it

Hi All - If i spotted this eariler I would have been in from day one.
Oh well should still get 14 days plus if I don't mess anything up.

Off to read the sticky as I'm sure things have move on again

Evening Mr shadowscotland, duly entered sah and the very best of luck to you :)

Start trolling through your address books me fellow crunchers had hoped to have more "in it to win it" by now, we can't have it looking like a swotters club at the library we need new blood too !!! :)

Im with Biffa on this, but for STW as I don't need the hardware so would be happy to give it to someone else if that was OK??

Am sure we could work something out Mr Edgde sah, thanks for participating and the best of luck to you :D

Uh I said "vouchers" not Shogun Total War :p

And I've put a special prize forwards for ToxicT to put on the prize list
sekret.gif

"Special" is an understatement its "spectacular" and i will get it sorted today (sorry Mr Biffa sah got down n dirty with some wallpaper)
Am i ok to list your offer as prize number 3 etc, must put up the full prize list today so people can see whats what wot wot!:)

I just wonder if this shouldn't be extended a couple of days to the 18th seeing as Seti@Home has been so **** with handing out WU's, and effectively today was the last day to join up to get 14 days worth of crunching.

Plus we could get it promoted in the OcUk daily news on the main web site and get it tweeted maybe in the OcUk tweet.

Sounds like a plan, looking at it i couldn't have picked a worse period to get a seti comp going but alas tis done now. Yup sure we can work in an extension just let me know what you think is best am open to suggestion :)

Hi Guys, you're doing a stand up job, love to keep popping on & catching up with all the latest chit chat. Have a couple of machines that do a little work in the background for the cause, not a major player but every little counts.

Hey, if I'm not in it I wont win it...."In it to win it".

Could not have put it better myself "every little counts" and is much appreciated, duly entered and the very best of luck to you sah :D

I am not too late to be In it to win it am I? I only just spotted this thread as I don't read the forums much - I run MW and there is not much MW activity in here and as we know no one ever reads the stickys :D This sounds like good fun anyway, maybe I could even be tempted back to SETI from MW :D

Hi PhilthyPhil, nope not too late at all duly entered and the best of luck to you :D

Been meaning to get into folding for a while, PC is on and hardly being used so much! but never found anything easy to set up really, this seems alright so will put it on as soon as the website is up again!

in it to win it i guess ;)

Edit: Anyone else having problems with SETI? Other projects run fine but just getting "no work to be downloaded" for SETI. Firewalls ect are ok.

Duly entered and the best of luck to you dfarrall :)

The splitters are currently offline so I'm getting no work units either.

FluffySheep
One day we might actually be able to fill our cache's :D

Having un-constipated myself I'm now crunching for SETI, Einstein and MilkyWay. I've also got a monster 2,400+ hour WU coming in for ClimatePrediction next week.

However, I'm in two minds about entering. A gift voucher would certainly come in handy, but not wanting to sound ungrateful I have nowhere to put a PCI-e graphics card and I don't game! :)

So there's plenty more worthy and more able to use a prize than I!

Evening Mr Berserker sah, when you have the chance would you contact me via email and we can sort out how you would like these donations for the hosting costs paid - every little 'elps :D

Mr TBag, can I just clarify that the 14 days of credit can come from any project? I - like others - put SETI down but because of the server troubles there I switched to folding almost two weeks ago. Thanks :)

Well aye Mr T tis only fair absoutely any OcUk project or Team 10 Folding will do it - in retrospect i couldn't have picked a worse time for a competition but i was not to know the hissy fit seti would take :o:o

You cost me a precious lunch break, Mr TBag! I hope you are happy. :| :p As always, a visual estimate would return a range of values. Picture is at an angle, too, so it wouldn't be that easy to be more precise (how sneaky of you Mr T :p). Reminded me of an assessment question KPMG ask at their interviews, haha. Mind they use elephants and people, but it works just the same.

But hey, one has to settle for something right? My final answer is: 257 DVDs (in standard cases). :o Please don't laugh, if I got it horribly wrong. XD

Hi datalol-jack i will do you a favour and not take 257 as your final answer - remember theres 10 shelves there all standard dvd cases have a think and come back to it later ;)

A total guess 3226 DVDs - in cases

My guess would be 2860 - in cases :)

Duly noted peeps :)

Yup they are all in standard dvd cases no fiendishly difficult multi-jewel whatnots, grab your tape measures and think hard - of course the size of the tv is one clue but if you have a mess with uncle google there's the size of something else to take into account as well ..... i love being mean :D:o

Got it Mr Loubob sah ta very much - course if you take a look around the forums you might be able to find the dimensions or a clue to the size of something else :p:D
