OcUK 2gb (2x1gb) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066Mhz Dual Channel Kit

No idea what their vdimm at 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 is supposed to be, but they passed a round of MemTest86+ at only 2.1v.

Excuse the crap N70 pics-

Can you say 'OEM'?

They're M-RAM branded. And the chips are labeled-

0714W
M-RAM
WR 64mb-66
S5063000PEBRA

At default settings they boot at 800mhz 5-5-5-18 at 1.8v with my P35-DS3P, tho the SPD table jumps from 266mhz to 555mhz-

Highest Super Pi 1m stable at 4-4-4-12 @2.3v is 1024mhz-

Highest Super-Pi 1mb freq at 2.1v 5-5-5-15 is 1136mhz-

Highest Super-Pi 1mb freq at 2.2v 5-5-5-15 is 1168mhz-

Going to 2.3v @5-5-5-18 only gained another 10mhz, so, as can be seen by the small increase from 2.1v to 2.2v, they don't respond too well to voltage after their max 2.1v speed.

Still, 1100mhz+ at 2.1v isn't too bad.

Hi there

These are good memory we have sourced and incredible value for money but don't expect huge overclocks from them. :)

I'm more than happy with them.

I'm going to flog my PC5300 Ballistix when they get back from Crucial and buy another pair.

when they already run at 1066 they don't need to overclock much....these are incredible value....very tempting.

I might pick up a pair along with some purdy heatspreaders because the only thing about these modules is that they're fugly!

Would i see much difference getting these instead of my Geil PC5300

Thr Geil runs at 667 4-4-4-12

So would running 1066Mhz 5-5-5-18 be noticablty quicker?

I can run my RAM unlinked so not being able to clock very much isnt much of an issue for me

You'd see a bit of difference, but won't really get the usual benefit of moving from 667 to 1066 as the 667 isn't holding back your CPU overclock.

Could you change the CPU multi down but keep the same cpu OC, if the mobo would do it 6x533mhz (PC8500) = 3.2ghz. If not then 7x457mhz would do it as well.

Does running C2D's FSB to multi ratio like this give much more performace?

Exactly what I was thinking. Ideal to pair with a chipset where the memory has to be as fast or faster than the FSB (P965, P35, etc..).

As they are the same price as the crucials, would you bother buying them to OC when you can get good stock speeds?

I already have 2gb of crucials that can run at ddr 1066 ...so I'm wondering if there will be any compatibility issues throwing 2 of these in along with the crucials? Should I risk it or no?

It only comes with a 1 year warranty, thats the catch...I don't plan to put more than 2.2-2.3v in but still that seems a lot for "budget" memory..

I'm thinking if I do get a pair I'll slap on some of these to keep them cool for longevity but most of all cover up its ugly nakedness :)
