Designed by SAPPHIRE, the new HD 4850 X2 comprises two complete HD 4850 graphics systems on a single PCI-Express card connected by an on-board PCI Express Gen 2 bridge chip. Each GPU has 800 stream process units and a 256-bit memory interface driving 1GB of GDDR3 memory, making a total of 2GB on-board memory. Four Dual Link DVI outputs are provided as well as TV-Out. This provides a choice of Multi-monitor operation or CrossFire mode in which 3D applications such as games use both on-board GPU’s together to deliver a single accelerated output on the Primary display with industry leading levels of performance.

# I/O Output: Dual DL-DVI-I x 4 +HDTV
# Core Clock: 625 MHz & Stream Processors: 2 x 800
# Memory Clock: 993 MHz, 1986 Mbps
# PCI Express 2.0 x16 bus interface
# 2x 1024MB or 2x 512MB /2x256bit GDDR3 memory interface
# Dual Slot Dual Fan Active Cooler with Fan Speed Control
# HDMI compliant via dongle
# 7.1 Audio Channel Support
# Microsoft® DirectX® 10.1 support
# Shader Model 4.1 support

Cooler looks great, far better than the stock X2 cards

its a sapphire only model from what ive heard

and the drivers need work from what the preview say

Suprised about the drivers, surely the drives should be nigh on identicle to the current 4870X2's, it is after all pretty much the exact same card but with GDDR3 and downclocked GPU's...

Ati always needs driver work:p

If the price is right I may be interested in getting one. Not 100% sure yet.

apparantly this card isnt supported by catalyst yet

this may have canged with the recent release

but with the card being a board partner release rather than an official ATI reference

i dont think they are going to give it the same level of support as they would for their major cards - hence why i am skeptical

IMO the 512Mb version of this card is pointless - with 2 cores your going to be aiming for resolutions and AA levels that need more VRAM.

Not really, I run 2 x 512MB 4850's and they do very well.

never the less

if its not an official ATI release - i doubt it will get the driver support that other cards enjoy

Hi there

Were disputing the price basically!

At the moment our sell price on this would be £279-£289+VAT and our argument with ATI is that this is more expensive than buying two 4850's seperately and its only a small amount more to buy an 4870 X2.

As such we don't see it as good value for money!

We shall be waiting more for the 4850 X2 1024MB version as this should be priced better.

Good enough reason!

This is true, price i've seen it at you could buy two 4850 1GB and be £60 better off.

Cheers for the heads up :)
