ocuk 8800GT poor overclock

i ordered a ocuk 8800GT 512mb which arrived today got it setup latest drivers and got rid of old ones first....

Opened up ati tool temps 31C idle stress 40C... brill

So start overclocking... it errors in ati-tool at anymore than 682 on the core..

then if i go beyond that.... it crashes in games...

is it luck of the draw with the 8800GT sum will overclock better than others. cus i keep hearing there all the same just some of them are factory overclocked....

700 core seems to be the hot spot for these cards and i cant get to that!

also....

in UT3, on 1280x1024 res 5/5 on sliders all the graphical enhancments done i get no more then 60-62 fps in some of the reviews.... i was seeing them gettin it into the 100's?

Is there sumthing up with my card or is it just a bad one??

What can i do?

also in ati tool im gettin an average of 228fps...... i got it in the 600's with my 7900GT??

Make sure your drive are right, get the latest beta ones if you can. Uninstall the drivers then do some driver cleaning.

Mine wont go above 680, its nothing to worry about, mine is an inno3D version though. i can bench at 725 but for gaming sessions it needs to be at 680.

Its nothing worth worrying about mate.

ive just uninstalled all graphics driver....

run driver cleaner. then installed the BETA drivers...

ati tool still avg 201ish fps... ??? i am right in thinking my frame rates are slow both in ati tool and ut3???

ut3 is capped at 62fps by default i think

Why uncap it? Its for Vsync proberbly.

@ mattymaxx, its pure luck, there is no guarantees in overclocking, if the card is stable at stock and not even 1mhz more then its not faulty.

Thats why you get cheap brands and brands like EVGA who actually Cherry Pick all good samples for the Overclocked Retail Models (you can see my thread on that here).

All cards from 8000's are made by 1 Manu for Nvidia (was not true before 8000's), but some Vendors have more pull with Nvidia than others and get better samples, then its about testing, selecting, bios etc.

Basically, you get what you pay for.
