I've had the OCUK 9600GT 512mb for a few months now, it's the xpertvision card and i've only recently started to try gaming with it. whenever i try to run a game i get about 5mins of gameplay before it freezes and then after about 30 seconds it just restarts and has only shown a BSOD once. it's almost any game, not just the newer ones.
Faulty card or incompatible? maybe something else?

MotherBoard: Asrock Alive SATA2GLAN
CPU: AMD Athlon 6400+ 3.2Ghz Black Edition
RAM: 2x 1GB Corsair XMS2 5400
SoundCard: Onboard
Graphics Card: XpertVision GeForce 9600GT 512mb PCI-E
HDD: 500GB Western Digital

Edit: Running windows xp home edition.

Image of screen-Freeze in lost planet, show's concept art i think :S But no idea why.

what PSU have you got

and does your case have good cooling, check the temps the GPU is running at it could be overheating

i have a 550w psu but from what i've read elsewere that should be more than enough for this card, the card idles at around 30-33c and gaming it doesn't go too high around 46

Im fairly certain its the PSU thats the problem mate

Do you have the 6 pin PCI-e power plug connected to the card?

yes i have everything connected to it, that was one of my concerns before buying the card i didn't know if my psu had a 6pin on it, but it does.

just reinstalled the drivers and now getting: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" in the hardware settings. and now scrolling isn't even running smooth

looks like your driver is dodgey or corrupt somehow.

if you cant run driver cleaner to get rid of all trace of your driver i suggest a re-format of the drive and slap windows back on.

also make sure you have latest direct x update installed too.

i think it was a driver error, i've uninstalled them and installed the 177.92 drivers which aren't on the nvidia site yet, and lost planet has just ran smoothly and didn't crash. i'll have to test it out with something else but it seems that was the problem.

thankyou for all your help and suggestions.

Glad to hear its working, if you do have any further troubles I'm going to echo what others have said your psu to put it nicely is not very good. Colour**** are cheap things that will delivery nowhere near thier rating.

i think i'll have to try a different PSU for it then, when i installed the drivers from scratch it played for a little bit longer than previously, but now it is just doing the same.

any not to expensive PSU's you can recomend to run it? all specs in top post
