OcUK AMD Ryzen 5000G series review thread

I can only find one listed and the price is eye watering. Granted, the GPU market is insane and anything with RX550 performance or above is £120 plus right now.

Was reading the CB review and noticed no iGPU tests at all, so looked back on the main page and they've put those into a separate article:

In the main review, gaming with a 3080 seems very poor compared to a proper 5800X:

Of their games, Valorant is the outliner.
Scaled to min frames, the 5700G vs 5800X is 159%

IGPU isn't too bad, as it's quicker than 1030 and even a 550:

Interesting seeing the performance gains with a 12 core Zen 3.

The performance seems solid for 65watts. Everything faster is 105watt without powering the graphics cluster.

Yes, it looks like their outliner, Valorant, loves cores judging from the 5900X. No 5950X in those benches.

I guess, 8 core vs 8 core when the 5800X is better it can be a lot better. 32MB cache would probably change that, but at the cost of a lot die area. Maybe a APU + 3D cache someday will solve that.

Power consumption is of course a major benefit of those APUs:

That's a constant 14W whenever the system is on. Some of the best ones at idle power are those Intel NUC based on mobile parts. The Intel Core i7-10710U (NUC) idles at 6.5W (those entries are hidden under +62 Einträge).

On the iGPU article they have two figures:

that's for memory scaling, and they have overclocking too:

but no combined.
The max possible is I guess 1.08 X 1.06 which is x1.1448 but that's not how it works.
Still +12% with faster memory and overclocked will put it a bit closer to the RX460:

"bit" being the important word!

It seems the reduction in L3 cache, etc seems to really reduce performance quite a bit,and pushes it closer to Zen2! I wonder if this is something that can be seen if you use an AMD GPU too?? Maybe its a driver issue??

Just seen the price for a 5600g CPU. £249.99 :/

Reading that these were like a 3600 with a GT1030 I went for a s/h GTX1070 and a 3100 (£260 total) from mm for a spare machine I have. Seems a good match.

5800x ? Depends on your use case.

Just grabbed a 5700g. Availability seems good generally. Putting it into my Deskmini X300. Nice upgrade from 3400g. Makes for a nice little Jenkins / Docker repo / Artifactory / ... other dev tools box. Don't care about graphics, will be ssh'ing in when I need to prod it.

First three e-tailers I tried had stock. Virtually identical pricing. Can't name them here as OC gets upsets :p

Just re-checked , yeah loads around if you want one
