Hi all just registered and after some advice.

I bought a gaming machine about 5 years back that has recently died on me (I believe it to be the motherboard) and is due a bit of an upgrade.

I will be using the machine mainly for Diablo 3, wow, Aion, Guild Wars 2.

The previous machine spec is the following:

Antec P182 Case,
XFX NForce 680I mobo,
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66Ghz CPU
XFX GF8800GTX Gcard,
Creative X-Fi Xtreme SCard,
WD 150GB Raptor HDD
WD 500GB HDD
OCZ 850W GameXstream PSU
MS Vista 64-bit OEM

I have been looking at replacing the motherboard along with a new CPU, cooler, RAM and graphics card. I would like to replace the HDD's with SSD's in the near future, however my budget does not cover this at the moment.

I have a budget of approximately £500, give or take a bit. I have been looking at the following:

Gaming Bundles:

"Krypton Z77 660i" Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40GHz @ 4.40GHz DDR3 Ivybridge Overclocked Bundle - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-001-GI&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat=

Krypton Z68 600i Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.60GHz Overclocked Bundle - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-063-OE&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat=

Graphics Card(s):

EVGA GeForce GTX 560TI Dual Shock Superclocked 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-168-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=

Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-100-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=

I would really appreciate some advice on potential issues with my old kit and if you think my planned upgrades are good options, maybe other bundles I have missed etc.

Thanks,

Jon :D

I'm not sure what advise you want, but you will need a new PSU too. The case you have you could continue to use. You could use one of your old harddisks as storage space as SSD's arent that big unless you buy a really expensive one.

Personally, I would go for the "Krypton Z77 660i" Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40GHz" bundle and the ATI card, get a new PSU, get a SSD and you're good to go.

That's just the advice I was after! :) I want to make sure that I won't have any comparability issues when it comes to installing the new hardware with the old. And the advice on the actual products I am looking at is ace too, thanks very much.

If u don't mind me asking whats the reason behind requiring a new psu?

Cheers

Jon

The spec for the PSU is:

OCZ GAMEXSTREAM 850W

Connectors:
1 X 20+4-pin ATX
1 X 4+4-pin CPU
2 X 6-pin PCI-E
2 X 6+2-pin PCI-E
6 X Peripheral
2 X Floppy
6 X SATA

The PSU should be sufficient to supply the new mobo, gcard and cpu??

Just an update;

Ended up ordering "Krypton Z77 660i" Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40GHz @ 4.40GHz DDR3 Ivybridge Overclocked Bundle, which today appears to have gone back to its original price of £409, I ordered it at the weekly offer price of £361 I think it was :D

Ordered a MSI HD 7850 Power Edition Twin Frozr IV OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card to go with it, which is on sale this week but unfortunately ordered that before the sale :o Nevermind still happy and cant wait for it to arrive.

Thanks to all who contributed to the thread :D
