Hi all,
As part of my PC build I am toying with the idea of buying this bundle:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-159-OE&groupid=43&catid=2512&subcat=2513

(My MSI 780 card was dispatched today :D) next week and I am wondering what the kick is with using x4 4GB ram rather than x2 8GB of RAM, I am sure OC UK know what they are doing with this but I was always of the opinion that x2 8GB would be better than x4 4GB?

On a 1400 system the extra £62 for the additional 8GB isn’t worth worrying about but it does state at the bottom of the page that additional RAM can affect the stability of the over clock and I want that over clock to be stable :)

Thanks

give us a call, we will have no problems changing the RAM for something else.

However, whilst I'm at it I would recommend asking about 1866 or 2133 memory too, Haswell comes to life a bit more with the extra bandwidth.

Thanks guys.

I'll give you a call next week when I am in a position to order :)

Replacing this 5 year old Alienware can't come soon enough now, every time I run a game that is well out of date by todays standards (Half life 2 for instance that it used to be able to run on the highest settings) I can almost hear Scotty saying "she can'ne take any more Captain".

Well I pushed the button, and ordered the bundle.

The Kingston RAM it is spec’d with was out of stock so it’s the perfect excuse for the upgrade, 2x 8GB of Teamgroup Vulcan Red 2133MHz. The Panther cooler is also out of stock but I would have needed to change that anyway as my Antec P193 V3 case doesn’t have enough room for it, instead going with the Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev.2 (both have 8 heat pipes). So I now sit waiting – it’s gonna be a long week and a half.

Well now that I have verything installed and running (still need to download the games that came with the MSI GTX780) I can report that its excellent, stupid fast, runs cool with the Arctic cooler, and the Team Group Vulcan 2133MHz Ram seems to have been a nice upgrade to the bundle.

Top bit of kit :D
