how do they compare to the 980x? are they the same

980x has unlocked multi but yeah, same chips. The Xeon has the second QPI active and ECC controllers but the core tech and so on are identical.

They sell for around £60. Absolute and utter no brainer if you're sitting on a X58 board (920 or something) and were looking to upgrade :)

They're not that bad tbh. I mean yeah, the price is more than you'd expect to pay but X58 has held up awfully well against X79. A good one will run you about £120, but the chip offsets it. It's certainly waaay cheaper than buying a 4790k and decent board for example.. Probably run you about half.
