Hey all :)

I am in the middle of upgrading my PC, and next on the agenda was a motherboard. Seems as OcUk has a small selection of AMD+ motherboards on the main section of the site, I dug deep and found the clearance lines, Was just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what this is, why the products are there, and if anyone has any experience on using this part of the site, if they could possibly give me some feedback :)

Kind Regards
Ben'

The boards tend to be warranty repairs or customer returns. most come in a plane box with no accessories, like I/O Sheild plate and SATA leads ect.

I have not had first hand expirience, but this what people have and commented on this forums.

Normally customer returns, I had my faulty 24" LCD replaced with an item from B-Grade stock, it came with all of the cables but they were used and the packing was a bit worse for wear. Other than that the hardware is perfect, the replacement actually had 0 dead pixels where my faulty one had 1 stuck one (the return was because of corrupted firmware though).

You will get the motherboard but be prepared for it to be missing some of the accessories, you might be lucky and have everything, I think it depends on how many parts the person returning it sent back.

I've bought plenty B-Grade from OCUK, motherboards varied from fully boxed with all gubbins to just bare box in a anti-static bag.

The bigger the saving, the more likely you are to be without all the extras.

The P35 is a great deal in there at the moment.

Bought mobos and got just that. Mobo, anti-statis bag. No backplate/cables etc. Not that i was bothered as I have a large surplus of gubbins.

I bought a lot from B-grade.Yesterday I bought a Phenom 9950 (OEM) for just £80.A massive £60 savings. So far im lucky all the stuff I bought are complete and the only missing item last time was a mobo backplate.

I've had mixed experiences with the B Grade section, I've had some good bargains however, a 8800GTX for £58, two 24" widescreen VA Panels for £135 each all working perfectly. I would however steer clear of motherboards as I've had bad experiences and they are not the easiest things to test.

Things like graphics cards, memory, hard drives, processors are all fairly easy to definately test, so bargains can be had.

Just my 5p anyways.

I've tried to buy 4 B-grade items, but only one of them was actually in stock. The others were on the system but nowhere to be found in reality. Quite irritating, but B-grade is pot luck. The motherboard I eventually got was just that - a motherboard. Not a big deal - I have no end of cables in my box of stuff and I can almost certainly get a manual online. No backplate, which may cause minor problems (is this an issue for dust or airflow?), and no cables to connect up front panel ports, which I don't use. I probably have some that would fit in my box of stuff, anyway. If it works, I have a decent P35 motherboard for £33.50, bargain. If it doesn't work, then it's much more fuss.

So if you see a B-grade item with one in stock, don't assume it's actually in stock. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

B-grade: Pot luck, but the potential to be a real bargain.

last thing i bought from b-grade was DOA but OcUK replaced it for a brand new one.

It' is completely pot luck with B-grade regarding what you actually get. Sometimes just the bare board in a brown box, sometimes everything that is supposed to come with it. One thing is the same no matter what you get and that is the tight fisted 14 day warranty. Most other places give you at least 3 months.

if i was to buy a B-Grade monitor and it came with dead pixels could i send it back, also what about scratches.

You could send it back within 14 days under the distance selling regulations, you'd have to stump up the postage tho.

I have been very tempted by the array of 280gtxs that keep on coming up in the b-grade section for sub £225 inc vat! :O

I will most certainly be looking in there after christmas for a 280gtx as a treat for myself. who can say no at those prices!

I could say no if there wasn't much of a warranty....

+1 for stickyness though, we're all tired of answering b-grade questions.
