Picked this oil painting up, the sales tag says it's 1950s but not sure how they'd known that; no other info on artist etc. Initials bottom left are "C.T" so I assume it's a Western artist as opposed to Asian but equally, who knows! Only other bit of info we have is a sticker on the back which says "custom made by George Cole 01-897-0889" which I presume refers to the framing and I think the number is a Dublin tel? Irish artist maybe?

I've done all the usual searches to no avail, and obviously it may have been done by a "nobody", but would be interested to try and find out who the artist was.

Any challenge acceptors?

I'm just on my mobile and but that does look right @ChroniC ! Amazing, well done. I tried lens but on the whole image and got nothing. I'll look at the artist when I'm not out.

Bought it for £85.

I've no doubt it's this T Chan / Tom Chan guy. Presume he's long since passed away but otherwise can't find any info on him.

The painting reminded us of visits to China so it's interesting that it's of HK. Wonder if it was bought there and brought back by a Brit, as it seems most of those for sale are in AUS/NZ.
