Gibbo mate,

We as a company would use you, but what we won't do is call a premium rate number to do so. The company we deal with has a direct dial 01204 number and as such it doesn't cost us to order parts. I realise there are alternative ways around the pay to speak numbers but its not worth the effort.

Can you please do something about the revenue generating number?

Cheers

Mike

Good point!

I shall get this looked into and see if this can be changed to local or at least 0844 as agreed business to business is about talking.

There are ways around this number, but these numbers generate a lot of revenue for companies hence they won't get rid of them. (My sig was also modified to remove this!)

To the B2B co gent, I want to talk to someone, not deal with them by email!

0844 is of no interest either, this is also a revenue generating number. Our company won't allow me to deal with people on these numbers, unless I personally foot the bill, which I am not willing to do obviously ;)

Edit : Give us a local rate number ie the 01 number you used to have and we'll do business I'm sure. I realise I can already obtain this 01 number through other means but I would like you as a business gesture to also give it to me.

Thanks for the reply though Gibbo, nice to see you listening to customers :)

As said shall be looked into for B2B customers. For retail 0871 stays unless the new owners decide otherwise because as you've said yourself it generates revenue and in this cut margin industry you have to make money wherever possible.

Ade our B2B guy is willing to call you, all you've got to do is MSN or Email your contact number and he will do the calling, thats good service.

I buy thousands of products per month, I get all my suppliers to call me with a simple MSN saying call me, I want to spend. ;)

So you yourself won't call a 0871 number but expect customers to do so? Come on gibbo, you can do better than that.

If I want 25 monitors, I don't want to have to send an email and wait for an hour in the office possibly for the phone to ring. I want to ring you, say I want 25 monitors, hand over account details and be done with it and off to my next job or support call. Further to this I should add : My boss wouldn't find it acceptable for me to use MSN messenger to get a call back.

As I said, I have a non 0871 number for you and use it personally as I despise the idea of paying you 10p a minute to be kept on hold (Sometimes for 30 plus minutes)listening to (frankly awful) music, but I want you to give it to business customers. I also have a 01204 number for a competitor of yours that we use very regularly and currently spend a not unsubstantial amount with.

I've said for trade we shall consider getting it changed, however it won't happen over night, were not miracle workers.

For end users, it won't be changing unless the new owners wish to do.

Once you get accounts up and running, is this route a possibility?

I use MSN to chat to one of your competitors in the country (you personally know it well and you may know their names ;)) it's really handy for requesting quotes and talking there and then about what you need rather than bouncing emails back n forth.

Also do you deal with schools? or is it strictly business's only at the moment? Unsure if we're seen in a slightly different category or not.

EDIT: Also, being a school when we spend over a certain amount we have to get 3 quotes for all our orders, are you fairly competitive? I.E if i told you your price had been beaten would you attempt to beat it again or just always give best price from the off?

Hi m8

Good to see you. :)

Yes we deal with schools and any government/council owned/run type organisation we will also give accounts too without issue, as we know you will pay.......eventually. ;)

So yes all you need to do is add Ade or Phil on MSN or just give myself a shout on MSN and one of the B2B guys will call you. :)

:D You know us too well then :p

Normally it's months of "can i have a quote for this this and this" followed by 2-3 months of silence (normally leading up to april) then all of a sudden we hit you with mass purchases when our budgets emerge

Also will you do quotes for items you don't stock? One of your competitors is a bit funny about this (they won't price for HP servers for some reason, i think it's due to trying to push their own tacky range though)

Yes we will quote on anything, though it may take 48hrs to do certain quotes if it something like a HP server for example, but we will try our best. :)

on your site it says public companies only, and when i tried to make a company account i was told to shoo

Ah sorry, yes at the moment accounts are for public companies only.

However going forward we may be looking to open up accounts for others too. :)

10 * 22 inch screens would cost about £23.00 on a next day

Depending on monitor type, size of box, weight etc. and of course the profit involved on the sale. So £23 could be very possible, but business/trade it all depends on what the business is buying as at end of day the whole order needs to have made a profit, though no doubt small a profit has to be made so everything has to be taken into account.

For example any company say ordering 100 systems, could potentially get free shipping, just depends on the items being sold, dimensions, weight, profit involved.

I wish we could order 100 systems from you, but the rtb warranty makes that a no no. They either go for D*** systems with next business day or we self build.

If you are going at this business malarky its about time you sorted some engineers out up and down the country and offered onsite warranty. It would benefit you massively ;)

CV in post ;)

Thats a long long way off unfortunately, but one day, we'd certainly like to be at such levels. :)

But there again if we were offering online support to businesses that they'd no longer require their own IT support staff, so we could end up putting people out of jobs. ;)

A little out on this lol

I work in a large outsourcing company's IT section and we have onsite support on each site and we have L***** onsite next day to fix any hardware issues with the PC's.

RTB is far to much hassle and inconvenience for business's especially if the machines are heavily used or customer facing.

I think it's good that OCUK are trying to expand but i think you will really struggle to compete with companies if you're not offering simple things like free phone numbers for ordering and no onsite support you will struggle terribly.
Either do it right or don't bother would be my advise..

Well we've being doing this for sometime just not publically shouted about it and so far it is building nicely. It works well for schools as they want systems or components and have their own IT staff to support the product, though admittedly they are local, so if they need to fix a PC they literally just drop it off and collect it later that day or following day. :)
