OcUK Express W230ST Piranha Gamer Win 8.1 upgrade issues with unknown device and USB

hi

ok I have recently got this laptop as my work one bought it the day after their offer finished so was a little more.

obly had it 3 weeks however having some issues with it:

1. Updates to Win 8.1 Pro so i could get onto works domain, however there is one unknown devide and the driver is not on the cd provided.
the system runs fine with our then, however......

2. I cannot charge or connect my iPhone 4 or note 2 through the USB. I've changed cables and it runs fine in my old i7 toshiba notebook.
every time I connect I get the USB found sound then it disconnects straight away. I'm lucky sometimes and get them to connect though one port but not always thr same one. I have no other USB items connected and this happens both powered on mains and battery.
I don't know if the USB hub drivers are faulty?
I can connect my portable hdd ok and other USB things such as mice with no issues.

3. when I start the computer while dots appear across the width of the screen.
odd one but it never did this when I first had it.


anyone else got this laptop and are having these issues??
it's a nice machine other that the above.

Use pcidatabase.com to find the missing driver using the vendor/device ID?

Don't want to alarm you but white dots across the screen happened when my nvidia (670GTX)GPU gave up the ghost on my desktop.
