did a search and only found a dead link to the ocuk firefox extension. anyone able to give me a working one?

also just installed xp proffesional service pack 1. i have 2 screens plugged in but wnidows isn't letting me change them from being 800x600 or 1280x1240 (one is 1650x1050 and the other is 19" ws) and they both are mirroring each other. i tried installing ultramon but it said some compatiabiliy problems or sometihng like that. anyway i an fix this?

also as i only got service pack 1 how can i download service pack 2 freely? i search google, went through a few ms pages and it just downloaded some windopws update thing and windows genuine validation thing and that was it.

thannks

[edit]

while i got this thread anyone help me out with removing the recycle bin fomr the desktop? i remember having to change some registry or something like that but it was rather scary so need some help.

also wanting to have my own theme but can't remember where i get all the stuff i want for this, i will do a search but easier if someone could link me to the right place.

thanks again

Give the Nvidia Beta Drivers a go as it starts with a wizard for dual screens once it's rebooted from installation.

Edit: For a standalone version of XP SP2 go here.

and as long as you have 1gb or more of RAM check out WindowBlinds for some top notch themes for XP.

To remove the recycle bin from the desktop and assuming you have XP Pro, type in gpedit.msc and navigate to the below to remove it:

hi guys, thanks for the great replies, everything sorted except just one, the service pack 2 as its taking forever to download, 3 hours and counting as its only downloading at 20kb/s. Is it suposed ot be going this slow or is something not right? i tried from both the suggested links and both the same. Thinking if trying tomorrow and see what speed i get then as i cant leave pc on for the next 3/4 hours.

thanks again

oh the screen problem was because i didn't install some driver thing for the graphic card.

[edit]

keep forgetting to say, i've now got 2 installations of xp on my hard drive, both basiclaly the same but one on this partition which is 90gb some reason, and the other on another 40gb partition, how can i delete the 40gb partition? also my hard drive is actually 500gb but only showing 2 parititons adding up to 130gb, where have the rest gone?

thanks

Try this one from multiplay for a faster link for sp2.

Right click on my computer and select manage, go into disk management to delete the partition you don't need and all going well your see the missing space there too after sp2 is installed.

well i gave up last night and started downloading sp2 this morning, which downloaded at 500kb/s which was much faster then the 20 i was getting before. I ran it it started doing stuff but stopped as it said my version of xp might not be genuine. Anyway to get it to install anyway? i think its thinking the xp on parititon C is not genuine and installing in the wrong place as the xp im using is on partition F

it says i that partition C can't be deleted as the system is on that even though afaik the one im using is on parititon F. is there a way to change this one to partiton c and the other F and then delete it maybe?

what are you on about? it only examines the windows you are currently using. if you think it's wrong then phone up microsoft and have your details ready. :)

well i finally managed to get service pack 2 installed.

Now the problem of the partition. I tried deleting the C parition again but keep getting the message can't delete partition with boot or system on it. i also tried changing its letter but again same message. what can i do about this?

anoyne able to help?

i stupidly put a different name for when i was first installing windows, which has given all my folders the wrnog name. I tried renaming it but it says that can't rename folder for windows to work properly. Is there anyway to change the folder name or am i stuck with it?
