Looks nice, but I really don't understand pairs of headphones that use USB sound processing - surely a decent soundcard whoops the pants off of something like this?

Perfect for people not running sound cards. Or without the room to install one.

This can run on a sound card anyway.

There are only 5 of these headsets in the country at the moment and we have secured every last one of them

The problem is most people who buy a high end headsets don't realize that they also need to power those headphones with a headphone amp to get the true sound quality. The result is they plug it in to crappy onboard sound cards and the result is a tiny sound from an expensive headset.

Using USB means the headphone amp is pre-installed inside the headset and can be optimized.

I prefer using a sound card with a OPamp and a good quality headset instead of USB. Standard headsets can be used on any device with a 3.5mm socket but a USB headset can only fit devices with USB. Also there is less that can go wrong with a standard headset.

So both styles have good and bad points :)

Are these still due to be realised or shipped today? the link says pre order for today 23/10/12. are they gonna be shipped today if brought or pre ordered?
