OcUK Forums Changes

Not sure if it's been mentioned, I'd like to see read posts tracked in the database rather than by cookie. Easier to keep track of everything if you're only browsing casually.

An all link naxt to threads that have loads of pages. -So ctrl+F finds your posts and you can hit next a few times until you have found what you last posted instead of clicking through all the pages.

allow my mm access back as it was removed after i 'trashed' someone sale by saying they were selling the item above retail costs. Ive dons about this a couple of times in the past and had no reply

Apart from that the forums are great. maybe have an over 18/21 section to talk about adult stuff

That's a great idea actually, that would make things much easier whilst at work and whatnot.

I really like it on a forum that I am a very casual user of (think it is Torrentbits software) uses it. If it were possible to do it on vBulletin would it not cause even more strain on the servers. Considering the struggle with searching that happened a while back.

Bah, stop being so lazy, it is easy enough to do manually. :p

Maybe so, but its even easier to do if you have a multi quite button. In the Photography section, I quite often find myself replying to loads of posts in a single post, and its just annoying having to quote, copy, quote, paste, copy etc etc. (Unless theres an easier way that I don't know about). One of the other forums I visit has a multiquote feature and it makes life much easier. If you want to do it the manual way, then there wouldn't be anything stopping you doing it that way instead.;)

Something I've seen on other forums which seems like a nice idea for first time posters is a new members section where people can say hi and break the ice so to speak. Saves it clogging up GD and makes first timers feel welcome.

If you do decide this is a viable idea can I also suggest that the whole "claimed" thing is banned in that area? Might be the first time someone has ever posted on a forum and the first thing they get is-

"read the FAQ

BTW claimed"

Doesn't leave a great impression :o

I'd like General Discussion to remain light hearted/fun and "serious" topics kept to Speakers Corner. A couple of months ago I almost stopped lurking because every other thread was about immigration. Not saying this topic shouldn't be discussed but IMHO better suited to Speaker's Corner.

We need to allow people to say good bye threads if they are leaving.

That wayn people wont ask where they have gone and make new threads about it every now an then:)
