OcUK Full System Prices?

Howdy,

I bought all my parts for my current PC a year or so back from ocuk and built it myself, I had no problems, but when I upgrade again (soon) I really cannot be bothered to build it again, so I was looking at OCuK's full systems.

Now if I did this I would go for the full, high-end system at: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-031-OK which costs a mera :) £3,053.83 inc VAT.

Now the interesting thing is, I added all the parts listed as being in that PC into my shopping basket, and it worked out more? Surely thats not right is it? You get OCuK to do all the hard work of building the thing, and they effectively pay you for the pleasure? Is this right? Or did I add more of something? All I know is, after adding what I saw in the list it came to £3,100+ (can't remeber the full price)?

Anyone know the answer to this? I assume I have got it wrong somewhere?

well makes more sense, your buying more from them, also these full systems are thoroughly thought out and tested machines, it's easier for them to build that machine than it would say a custom build (although i dont think they do that)

Really? I would have been sure they would charge you more for building it, as its labour costs etc etc? But maybe you are right?

I would have thought for the more expensive builds it would be cheaper to buy the full system, since then they are guaranteeing that you will buy every component from them, alll at a profit. Labour costs are pennies compared to the profit made from a £3,000 pc..

All that top of the range kit and it comes with a "Intel Approved Cooler". Surely they've not used the stock cooler?

Why not? It works fine for stock as is intended, even with all the fancy parts OcUK aren't saying that the PC is meant for overclocking. :)

I think part of the reasoning for the pricing is that they don't have to have such a profit margin on each individual component plus as has been mentioned by peetee it guarantees that all parts are bought from them which ties into the profit margin argument. To build a PC, not including the installation of software probably takes them around 20-30 minutes which is worth maybe £5 in labour costs at a rough guess but they do get a guaranteed order which is worth far more.
