OcUK, I need some ideas

Ok some real life problem solving,

The branch I work for wants to do some advertising BUT we have no budget left, i.e. we can't pay for other people to do our advertising so we're trying to figure out ways that use the resources at hand,

we have:
Paper
envelopes
man hours that can be spent out of the showroom
access to a franking machine (free postage)
lists of contacts
a showroom
the internet

We've done the usual mail shots, promotions etc

but what would you do to make use of those resources?

Well, you could always mail flyers to contacts? I don't know - entice them to come to the showroom or whatever you do? Or leaflets around town?

Something that will get you on the news/in the paper? A world record attempt for something really obscure but beatable for example

The only viable option at this point would be to hand out flyers but thats not really an effective way as people tend to screw them up (yes i do ;D)

Post erm, postcards of models (good types, you know, fit females) where tiles are hiding their bits. If people want to see more, or they want to talk about filling in the tiles they can come in and make an appointment with somebody.

No give away promotions ?

Modify the postcard idea. Make the picture from tiles with the naughty bits missing and suggest the missing tiles are hidden in the promotional boxes. Buy a box for a chance to win the whole set. 3 sets available or something like that. Make them a reasonable size so they would look good in a bachelor pad shower room and I am sure your customer base would suddenly include lots of young men who never used to think about tiles at all. Drop a hint to the local papers and get free advertising there too. Maybe not a nude picture though as you wouldn't want to be advertising pron .

Back to the land or reality though..... get some aspiring photographer to take some product shots (trade them gaining experience for some shots, art colleges / schools should be good for finding such a person or even the photography forum here). Maybe some new designs using existing stock, bit of creative mix and matching. Offer a free design service, a personal assistant, free car loading of bought items, refund on returned boxes.

Only things off the top of my head for now.
