hi guys, thanks for the invite last night.

just thinking maybe one of the officers could start a new thread with a more clear title, and also compile all the relevant kinship information (server/officers/level/house etc) into the first post.

Then reserve a few posts after that for tips/tricks and general help(which we can all add bits to), then we can let this one slowly fade away.

i spent most of last night fiddling with the UI settings as I run eye infinity now since i last played and found a few handy features to get around running multiple resolutions on the same character :)

I do believe there is a request in with the mods at present, though its been there for a week or so... Could well have been that a poll removal request was the only thing requested.

The general idea is to use this thread for recruitment and move people over to the kin forums at http://ocuk.mmoguildsites.com.

oh.... well that's interesting.

I thought the idea of the kinship was that it was going to be a place where the OCUK forum users can hang out have a laugh in game and discuss their adventures on the OCUK forum thread? By the look of the website it's all starting to look very "official", kinship signups/forums/members-lists and the horror of all horrors a "Classes we are recruiting list", I thought this kinship was for all ocuk ppl?.

All of which is the one reason I never sign up to guilds/kinships at all, it's all to regimental and you start getting the old cliché "well it's on the forum Etc" when something goes wrong.

ah well, i'll just be online as and when, chat in kinship chat and level etc at my own pace... hopefully i wont be taking up one of the precious slots on the recruitment list

Relax, that's just the standard template for the site we're using - nobody is ever going to get refused entry based on their class. It's just easier to have a website rather than trying to keep everything organised in a single thread.

The website may indeed look official but that does not mean the kinship is, the website was setup by myself as a simple way of communicating to each other without having to flood the OcUK forums.

Regarding the "Classes we are recruiting list" its simply there to show that no class is excluded from joining the kinship e.g. we will not expect anyone to play a specific role but rather play what ever class they deem the most fun for them :)

The main focus of the kinship is to provide a casual and social environment for OcUK people that play LOTRO, with help and support available as and when it is required. As an Officer I also plan to hold events and the like to provide more than just quests, instances and crafting as the only aspects of the game.

Hope this answers some of your points / queries RynceWynd, and a big Welcome to Old Council to the Undying Kings from me :)

/Kay

Hi, yes your idea of a loose/fun etc kinship is the way it's ran. Don't be put off by the website, its like a generic template that you are given. Kay is customising as we go along. I cannot see any reason why any class restriction thing will be implemented.

I know what you mean by 'well its on the forum' :)

EDIT: wow quicker and better replies then mine :)

Its not that at all. We've set the kinship site up as another portal so that this one doesn't get too cluttered. In terms of whats actually on that site, very little is used. Its a basic layout taken from the mmoguildsites template.

Recruitment is open to OcUK members and close friends of said members. We are NOT going over the top mental about it, just look at the kin chat last night for proof of that (scratch that, every night!). Even then its not really about recruitment, its just a place for us to chat without (and no offense to OcUK here) restrictions.

I understand your concerns but step back a second and take a look at how its being run. We're a new Kinship on an RP server, people would expect us to be a serious roleplaying group but we're far from it. We are a group of friends and like minded players who want to play a game together, thats all. There is no pressure to do anything you don't want to do.

For those of us who do want to do instance runs, advance our professions, etc the kin forum allows us to organise things. It also allows us to post announcements and ideas that people can easily access without having to trawl through tens of pages in a single thread on a forum that we have no control over.

As I've said, theres no need to worry :). I'm not in it to be overly serious, I do enjoy some of the more "hardcore" aspects but I'm in no rush to get any of it done. I'm just enjoying the game for what it is, as is everyone else.

Edit: Goddamnit why do I spent so long writing these epic posts, everyone always gets there before me :p.

hehe ty for all the replies (sorry to those who wrote long replies i only skimmed them :P).

i just wanted to make sure that i wasn't going to be kicked for not lvling quick enough etc etc.

as the one aspect that appeals more about lotro compared to wow is, that it pays to take your time and enjoy it :)

I started a new hobbit, for some hobbit adventures, trying to get lots of hobbits at the same level. Not caught it right yet, but we can do it.

Stuff like the drinking quests, and chicken runs are always fun.

<< hobbit minstrel :)

i just love running around the shire, the party tree is awesome. Straight out of the book.

best quest in any mmo is the shire pub crawl one...

I'll get my hobbit warden/guardian made tonight then :D.

Need to sort out that cts aswell, might do it when I get a free moment here :p.

Edit: Still #$&@%!£ clickandbuy. Why can't I just use my bloody card.

I think Wes mentioned it previously in this thread but take care when doing a CTS as not everything comes over with your char in terms of possessions and the process is non-reversible.

Mostly stuff added in expansions iirc, I'm not overly fussed in terms of items, so long as gold and other stuff turns up :p.
