I'm downloading the trial ahead of the F2P, thought I'd give it a go. Is the kinship still going, and can an ultra casual join? Also do I have to RP a lot (I see its on a RP server)?

You don't have to RP on the RP server, just be respectful that others might be roleplaying so don't stand in front of themr yelling about chuck Norris :)

Oh and pick a reasonable name, calling yourself buttmunch tends not to last long on an RP server :)

But no, you aren't forced to roleplay and you'll appreciate the player RP events even if you aren't an rper yourself as it adds atmosphere.

Another good tip is to join the global lff chat channel as it works across all the zones and is the most active chat channel I know of on the various lotro servers

Ok I'm in! How do I join the kinship :)?

I'm on at the minute (Amdeal). Send me a /tell and I'll add you.

Edit: Not on anymore. Next time you're on post your character name in this thread and hopefully one of us officers will spot it.

I've been enjoying Lotro immensely, i'm on the Eu Laurelin server lvl 42champ, my only gripe is the lack of people to group up with in certain areas, is Laurelin one of the less populated realms ?

I believe its actually one of the more populated realms, trouble is that with basically all of vol 1 now being soloable there simply isnt too much of a need to group until you reach Moria.

One thing to do though is join the global lff channel if you havent already, there is nearly always several hundred people in that channel and I find that there is a great deal more social and grouping that happens via that channel than any other.

I don't want to leave my current kin but I am currently levelling three alts at the moment. If anyone wants to add me as a friend I am happy to help people out and fellow up.

Myrdanimyr - Main Lvl 65 Hunter
Myrdanadora - Level 30 Minnie
Myrdanadan - Level 24 RK
Myrrael - Level 24 Champion

Just to update people on the status of the OcUK (Old Council to the Undying Kings) Kinship.

We are just about to become kinship rank 7 which means that the kinship will have our very own house complete with storage, in terms of active players we currently sit between 5-10 players but with LOTRO going free 2 play this autumn we are expecting an upturn in player numbers throughout the entire game.

On a personal note my goal in LOTRO is to help others be it via advice, money, items or contacts.

If people are interested in joining the OcUK kinship then please contact one of the players listed below or visit http://ocuk.mmoguildsites.com

Hi,

I'll be back playing again soon, think I needed a break.

I'm currently playing World of Tanks a lot, mainly because it's still new-ish, but will be dipping back into lotro soon enough.

Yup I'll be back once it hits F2P. Was tempted by the lifetime sub offer a few months back but given I'll have free access to moria and mirkwood (where my main is right now) come F2P since I already own the expansions I didnt see to much point in paying extra. Plus I wasn't too keen in levelling up an alt so im not going to miss the level 20-50 content.

So I finally caved and started playing last night. This will be my first MMO and I seem to be getting the hang of it, even though I'm playing on a laptop as I don't have a decent pc anymore.

I'm on Laurelin with a level 7 (ish) Guardian.

Is it best to join a guild now or wait till I've levelled up a bit first?

Ask to join any of the larger ones that'll take you mate, people don't seem as elitist on LotRo as on many MMOs and aren't too fussed about you having a high level character before you join the kinship. It's worth making sure you've joined the two global channels as listed above.

/joinchannel globallff
/joinchannel globaltrade

make sure they're visible in the filter for the chat box (user 1 and user 2). There's occassionally recruitment posts in them you could apply for if you don't fancy the OCUK kinship (assuming it's up and running).

I've applied to the ocuk kinship, just have to wait now. Hopefully someone there will be able to show me the ropes.
