Yeah lets show those southern softies where it's at (ok I am currently one of the said softies but originally from near Manchester so its ok).

Dates are weekend of June 20th/21st or June 27th/28th. Could we get a poll for these dates please?

Ideally would like to get some big climbs in, but since the UK doesn't have any (guffaw :p), the pennines will have to do! Not thought of a route yet to be honest, we can thrash that and make it user friendly when we know who is coming.

Frenchtart is kindly building me a brand new bike, but the numpty has it in the wrong size so I will probably need to borrow one, but I will also look at hiring one.

09:00, stockport train station, 20th June.

I'd hope that we'd basically stick together at a speed everyone is comfortable at - maybe do the whole "meet at the top of the hill" for the climbs though.

I actually threw together an 80 mile route on ridewithgps the other day starting from Stockport station, then doing the brickworks, Macclesfield, cat and fiddle, Buxton, optional cafe at 40 miles, mam tor, another optional cafe at 60 miles, back past Chapel en le Frith, New Mills, Marple.
Sounds good, would be keen to get a Cat and Fiddle in, and optional cafe? Why is it optional?

I would have thought playful drops every now and again are well on course, but sticking together is the goal. Climbing though is obviously personal so yeah regroup at the top.

I'm just over the hill in Halifax so this sounds good to me, neither of the dates do though :(

In London for Foo Fighters at Wembley the first weekend and my dad's up here for his 50th the weekend after haha.
Afraid I can't be flexible on the dates. Bring your dad?

Tell her a pro French celebrity rider is coming over and you can't miss it.

Then after the ride tell her he couldn't make it but Platypus did instead.

Ok I have two potential loans of bikes, sadly neither have a climbing cassette but will just have to manage!

^I just can't sleep past it, and hate lying in!

I take it most people don't want an 8am start :p?

Yeah I would prefer the saturday personally. Could ask a mod to change the poll to sat/sun?

Not fussed about A roads unless its as busy as the A14, which is essentially a motorway.

I think that looks like part of the route I did with OneMoreSolo, and the hill next to Mam Tor at 95km (can't remember its name..is it Winnats Pass?) I do remember as being particularly brutal.

I really enjoyed the cat and the fiddle climb with OMS but it was quiet as we'd gone out early but...I'm easy. I will go with the majority vote (another poll? :p).

I've asked a mod to edit the title to confirm Saturday the 20th.

Have a good breakfast and eat/drink properly through the ride and you'll be fine and besides, it's not a race. I like the challenge of hills but I'm too heavy to be quick up them. The Peak District is punishing for a chubster like me. For that amount of climbing I'd be very happy with a 15mph average though I reckon it will be less given that its a meant to be a social ride?

Social ride? I've nicked this years Maillot Jaune for the winner .

:p

Yes thats useful as I'll be driving down from the parent-in-laws in Pendle. I can pick someone up on route if needed.

Lets just finalise it for arguments sake otherwise we'll never get there :p.

09:00, stockport train station.

Looking on google maps, there is a taxi rank outside with room to hang around with a bicycle, so I'd suggest we meet there: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...0x487bb37b068eae43:0xd24bc9353c69619e!6m1!1e1.

It looks like I will be doing the ride on my winter bike, which whilst obviously heavier is at least a triple (currently - converting to a compact later).

I need to know before 12pm as thats when I drive up north :p.

I am around for two weeks and then back in August and can happily go for a ride down here if the consensus is to postpone.
