If I don't get it back, will I be left alone?

You'd need insurance with that sort of cover, warranties don't usually cover theft.

Yah, you'd need insurance for theft. You sure it was stolen or was it just lost? IT Teacher might have seen it lying about and kept it until someone comes to collect it.
