OCUK more than a website?

I'm amazed how many people lurk here.
When I go gigging at weekends several followers will tell me about threads they've seen me posting in but never post themselves.

Get the same thing with students at Bristol uni when they see the ol' blue page on my screen.

If this site ever went down then i'm sure most people would move on.

How many people here have used other forums before?

I've used a gaming forum before and then when I got bored of that I was on a popular football forum. That got dull so now i'm here. :)

If this ever gets dull or closes down, i'd have no idea where to go next but there is always somewhere!

Probably is, getting to know the characters post here. Once you know who's who and who to avoid it feels like home :)

It's not how you stand by your post, it's how you write your post.

Ask any poster, any real poster, it doesn't matter if your post count is a hundred or a thousand, posting is posting.

We are the all spamming, all trolling, crap of the internet.

All the ways you wish you could be, that's OCuK.
OCuK looks like you wanna look,
OCuK ****s like you wanna ****.
OCuK is smart, capable and, most importantly,
OCuK is free in all the ways that you are not.

Little by little,
you're just letting yourself become..
OCuK.

Someone just watched fightclub

Come on lads! - lets have a sing-a-long:

'Making your way on the internetz today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to read OCuk?

Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your nick,
and they're always glad you click.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.'

*clink clink*

(sung to Cheers Theme Song)

But yes, OCUK is definately much more than a forum to me. My internet home, where people come and go... but at least theres always something going on, which you can get involved in or just watch from afar. I'd be absolutely gutted if it closed.

To OCUK *clink*

Hear Hear :D

And The Fast And The Furious if you're being accurate.

OcUK probably is more than just a website but I'd imagine every forum community thinks that because of the shared links between members, some of whom have met each other, many of whom will recognise each other by how they post whether that is good or bad and so on.

More than a website to meeeeeeeeeeeeee........oh sorry it appears im the only person who thought of that bit in Short Circuit when i read the thread title :(

Is it? I wasn't sure...Just sounded like a part from that film, but I'm probably wrong.

I certainly feel differently about OcUK as through it I've met and made some of my closest friends, some that have gone away with me on holiday, and that have met and spent time with my family too. I shan't embarass them with who they are, but to have developed that just goes to show what an incredible place this is. Unfortunately owing to the fact we don't all live in the same place we can't keep in touch or see one another that often, but it'sa tribute to this place.

Memorable events which have blown me away are Zoltan, Dead Dog's son, Skywalker's daughter and a few other "let's get together" moments which have really inspired me and made this place stand out. Positive outcomes have been, the relationships that have occured, the friendships developed, the fall outs but also the recovery from bleak times. People say the interenet is different and people are different on it... well I disagree I reckon 9/10 people on here truly are people you could just get on with - those that don't fit in have never stayed long enough to be remembered anyway.

Definitely The Fast And The Furious - Vin Diesel as Dom Toretto with "Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning." and Ja Rule as Edwin with "It's not how you stand by your car, it's how you race your car.". Although the majority of the rest is Fight Club, you're right. :)

Used to be on here loads. Cut down a lot recently, don't post a lot. Read a lot of the posts though.

A) More 'tards and Trolls about now
B) Can't browse at work
C) Lots of old members no longer here (for various reasons)
